How long is your commute?

25 min. drive door to employee lot in CLT.

I used to commute from TPA to PHL -- 30 min. to the airport, $7/day parking, and 2:30 flight (Yuck!). On not-so-rare occasions, the trip home involved a flight to MCO (no room on the TPA flights) and a rental car drive to TPA.

Guess I'm fairly lucky. 4 miles & approx. 10 min. drive to lot in CLT.

When I was on the ramp in PHL, I drove about a half hour down I-95 almost everyday (even when I wasn't working, I was traveling). Since I moved out here, my commute is about 2 minutes to PHX and 5-10 min to work.

My commute is to long!...West FA and commute NYC/PHX...when this merger went through I was very glad, because I saw a light at the end of the tunnel...getting based eventually on the EAST coast....hate the commute and sticking it out, until I hope I can get based in the EAST....with 20 years will I be able to be based and hold a good line in LGA?....did try living in PHX for 2 years and hated it!...you can have that place...to HOT, strip Mall City, ugly, boring...but alot of people like it, it keeps growing...I quess I'm an east coast person, born and raised...so it will be nice to live in my base someday!

With 20 yrs seniority, you will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 25-30 in the base. LGA is an awesome lil base, with great trips, if you live in there. Twenty years can get you a primary int'l line in PHL but not in the winter, they lose all the seasonal destinations. Welcome! I am sure you will love it, and be made to feel welcome.

I think PHX is an acquired taste if you're from the east. I've been here for almost three months and like the change, although I can't say how long I'll stay. At least for a few years. Great night life and restaurants. Non-reving makes it easy to get back home and see family and friends. I'm definitley looking forward to the winter out here!

22 minute drive to MKE non-domicile employee lot ($250/yr)
3hr (summer) or 4hr (winter) flight to PHX.

Commuting sucks but living in PHX or LAS is worse. No airline job is worth moving for.

I drive approx 80 miles roundtrip each day. 40 minutes from my home to the employee lot and a minimum of 15 minutes from the lot to the terminal, IF the bus is there ready to leave. Employee lot is 3 miles away, so I always allow myself a 30 minute buffer before my shift.

Pilot ..........i:30am (west) get up, drive 90 miles to LAX, Park in the E (slum lot @ $150/year) then the first flight out out town, usually #1422 to PHL, in the jumpseat... 5 hours later, unless Philly is 'holding', I'm in the crew room trying to catch up on my sleep.

AHHHHH, I Love My Job

...and my family, or I would be doing something else at 'Home'
