Of course the viewership was going to be lower.  Trump was not in the debate to make an ass of himself.  That's the reason many tuned in.  Were it not for Trump, very few would have watched any of the debates.
 
I don't get why everyone makes a big deal out of the debates.  They are infomercials for the candidates.  No one gets hard questions.  No one gets called out for their lies.  No one really has to think.
