Hijacked means that someone can't go where they want to go even though they tried.

I haven't seen anyone try.

I would bet that $17M would wipe out whatever profits US gains in TLV for many months. Maybe he'll pull out the checkbook and maybe he won't.

The question remains why AA didn't do it if it was the right thing to do and if TLV flying is really that profitable.
 
Maybe it wasn't enough profitable for pre-merger AA but possibly profitable enough for the new AA.
 
Wiping out a few months profit isn't a "big deal" in the grand scheme of things if flying to TLV is indeed profitable for AA/US.
 
I think this case will eventually settle for maybe 50%-60% of the "going rate". Completely IMHO .
 
it has been reported that AA's code is not on US' PHL-TLV flight, perhaps the only market where that is not so.

Maybe AA will have a dedicated couple of planes that are registered and part of an offshore company in Switzerland or Bermuda (UK) to fly the route sort of like KLM Asia

  Seems like a lot of trouble to through that might not pass muster with the Israelis.
