F/A Recalls

Oh boy...noon tomorrow is the deadline for the recall forms. I just wonder how many will pass this time. Has anyone heard about the numbers that inflight has received so far?

How does it work? Do they go through the list and back again if everyone passes? Or, do they start at the bottom and start forcing people to take the recall if they don't get enough?

First they go through the list and people are chosen in seniority order. If they don't have enough people who want to come back, then they will start at the bottom of the list in inverse seniority order and those people either come back or they resign from US Airways. I have also wondered how many people have decided to come back. I wouldn't be surprised if they did have to force people to take the recall. I can't wait to see who will be rejoining us!

FlightChic, I have a question and would like your input. Let's say a f/a in the middle of the list passes the initial recall but the company comes back up the list and forces the f/a back in a take it or resign as per the contract. My question-the f/a could have held PHL or CLT going down the list. Is he/she now forced to choose between LGA, BOS, or DCA (whatever is open at that point) or does the company get their 230 people and then assign in seniority order? I haven't seen any discussion on this issue. You always seem very knowledgeable about f/a issues and was wondering what you thought. Thanx!

If you are in the middle of the list and pass you forfeit picking a base at your seniority. When they are in assignment mode and you must return or resign it will be from the bases that are left after others JR to have who did not pass have chosen.

Thanx, Beachboy. That's what I assumed, but was not sure. Don't know if you are in a position to know, but I hope someone will post what bases held what classes in the return as I guess many are waiting for the results.

It will take some time to sort through and double check. If they planned accordingly I would think they would have entered it in on a spreadsheet as the bid forms came in. Instead of having hundreds of papers piled up you just use MS Excel to sort the list and shouldn't take that long. Tomorrow at the latest I would think.

I think after they go through the furlough list both down and back up they move onto the voluntary furloughees. I bet they have to start on the voluntary list this time. Look how many they went through the last time just to get what they needed.

Just heard from a reliable source that they are through processing the recalls, but nothing specific has been released. If anyone hears anything or sees the list released, please share

A lot of people's lives are about to change.

Just curious--will they continue to keep the people that pass on furlough or will they eventually get rid of all on the list? Is there a time limit? Does anyone know what the longest amount of time has been that an airline has kept people on furlough?

I'd imagine we are winning, unless you count the AA-TWA debacle, they've "won" an extension on recall rights.

No time limit. You can pass as long as somebody junior to you is still on the list. The list will end when when all FAs are recalled in seniority order or inverse order.

I could not get in the thread. Everyone saw something new and hopped on this thread. The flood controls came on....LOL Anyone hear anything. It's like living in a information void.
We are lucky to have recalls rights thats don't expire. American has or had what they call a drop dead date where you just turn into gone period. In the restructure a few years back they asked for that and thank God no one went for it.

Just heard that only about 130 f/a's out of the involuntary list opted to come back. I'm not sure if they will start forcing the involuntary from bottom of the list up or go to the VFLR list for the remainder needed.

Someone from PHX correct me if I'm wrong but I think in the AWA AFA agreement that those flight attendants only have a 5 year recall as well.

In case you're interested here is a list of f/as who are involuntarily furloughed. No names are mentioned, just employee number and order.
