Nice. The Arab League just told Libya where it stands. Now all they need to do is get their plans air born and enforce the no-fly zone. Definitely a step in the right direction if they are willing to give it some teeth. I hope Obama doe not let the US get dragged into this fiasco.
Arab League urges no-fly zone for Libya

In a stark rebuke to one of its members, the Arab League urged the United Nations on Saturday to impose a no-fly zone over Libya.

The move came even as forces loyal to Moammar Kadafi advanced eastward toward the strategic city of Port Brega in an intensifying onslaught against out-gunned rebels, who retreated from airstrikes and rocket barrages that thundered across deserts and coastal highways.

WAIT!

Doesn't the Egyptian Zion Coptic Church use Marijuana as a sacrament?

How can the Republicans support Christians who if they lived here would be breaking the law every Sunday?

Ethiopian Zion Coptic Church

The Ethiopian Zion Coptic Church is a mansion of Rastafari movement which flourished in the 1970s in Jamaica and was incorporated in Florida in 1975. Members of movement say it is based on the teachings of Marcus Garvey and that they use cannabis as the Rastafari sacrament.

Knife meet back

Hundreds of Islamists hurled stones at secular opposition figure Mohamed ElBaradei as he went to cast his ballot in a referendum in Egypt’s capital on Saturday, an AFP reporter said.

“We don’t want you,” they shouted, forcing the former UN nuclear watchdog chief to retreat to his car and leave, but not before being hit by at least one stone in the back and drenched with water.

ElBaradei is widely respected on the world stage for his work as an international diplomat, but under the ousted regime of Hosni Mubarak, he came under repeated criticism for his frequent trips abroad.

He was also accused of being out of touch with the reality of Egyptian life.

ElBaradei went to vote in Saturday’s referendum on constitutional reform after returning from a speaking engagement in New Delhi sponsored by a leading Indian English-language newspaper.

Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood Now Plans Big Political Role

CAIRO (AP) — The once outlawed Muslim Brotherhood says it will contest half of the seats in Egypt’s parliamentary elections in September, revealing plans to become a major force in the country’s post-revolution politics.

The elections will be the first since the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak by a popular uprising in February.

The Brotherhood remained Egypt‘s best organized opposition group despite a campaign by Mubarak’s regime to suppress it. It successfully fielded candidates in previous parliamentary elections as independents.

At a news conference Saturday, the Brotherhood named the leaders of its new Freedom and Justice party.

All about change....

Wow.
Didn’t see that one coming.

Brotherhood Leader Seeks Egypt Presidency

Abul-Futuh says he will run as an independent in Egypt's presidential elections

CAIRO – A senior member of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood unveiled a bid on Thursday, May 12, to run for the country’s presidential elections. "I will run as an independent candidate in the coming presidential elections,” Abdel-Moneim Abul-Futuh told Reuters.

Why? Because the American Public has the attention span of a gnat
Yeah basically. Where are those people who were delusional in thinking that the Egyptian uprising was a call for freedom, democracy, hope and change, etc. Didn't fool the rest of us who knew exactly what was going to happen.

Well perhaps the brand of Freedom & Liberty includes hatred of the USA due to our propping up the Mubarak regime? Really what did you expect Tea & Crumpets?

CIA refers to it as "Blow Back". I refer to it as our Interventionist/Imperialistic Policy that causes us to be isolated from large part of the world. In short they hate us because we bomb them. Maybe not in Egypt but the ME in general.

Mubarak was a dictator. It is possible that the US withdrawing their support of him will be viewed as a good thing. We finally did the right thing. Too late but right none the less. What the Egyptian people do with it is their choice now. At least we did not step in the way of what they want. If they want the Brotherhood, that is up to them, not us.

Really? You sure do surrender pretty fast there furball...

I hope these are just growing pains but I get the feeling Egypt is going to have a rough time of it. I hope they do not turn into another Iran.

Clashes Kill 13 as Old Woes Beset New Egypt

They need a leader to lead them out of the chaos. With out that they will just implode.

I dont think propping up is the correct terminology. Choosing the lesser of two evils when the alternative is war and unrest more like it. Lack of intervention would have seen continual unrest and war between Israel and the middle east. Should a civilized society just sit back and left the cards fall where they may no matter how many millions are wiped out in the process? At least Egypt helped maintain some peace of mind with Egypt. However it seems those days are gone and the hammer is going to come down hard on Israel as everyone watches...and does nothing....again.
