Egypt Looking for Change?

One could say the same thing about the chicanery used to start 2 wars with no way to pay for it but I am sure you won't. They are all crooks.

Funny, most wars start due to lack of funds.
I don't remember anyone taking out an equity loan to fund a war or sat around" what's up today? Lets start a War."

Tell me about chicanery regarding any war.

War bonds came about as a result of war not a desire to get into one.

Looking like Libya using air force to drop bombs now according to Google News.

Hitting the fan in the Arab world.

What I said was that 2 wars were started with no way to pay. Had Bush been required to pay for his war by raising taxes what do you think the result of the 2004 elections would have been? The bottom line is that the war bonds help fund the war. The American people believed in the war and were willing to support it with money and sacrifice. Do you think that same willingness would have been displayed with these two wars?

It's about bloody time the people in the ME start fighting their own battles. If they want to get rid of these SOB's running/ruining their country then they need to step up to the plate. Looks like some of them are.

All well and good Pal, but when Obama kills most, if not all domestic energy production and the Merde hits the Ventilateur in the ME, driving oil prices through the roof, we will be royally screwed and so will the economy of the rest of the world. That is why western gov'ts have been doing what they have. All of the oil was developed from a bunch of tent dwellers into what the ME is today. They wouldn't have it if it wasn't for the west. So much for gratitude....LOL
I say we stop giving aid, pull our troops out of areas like Europe and so on and let them have at it.

The only sobering thought about pulling out MT, is when us and the rest of the west pull out, smiling Ivan and China will pull up with all kinds of weapons to kill Israel and control the oil.

The chicanery employed by the three branches of government(as Chuck Shumer puts it) to pass that garbage will go down in history no doubt.Apparently you just woke up and missed all the theater that was on display leading up to the passage of the bill and how America had negatively responded to this joke of a legislative process that you seem to hold so dear to your heart.

So you think it's a joke? Then why do you bother to vote?

Just like clockwork...

Egypt: Mob of 4,000 Rampaging Muslims chanting "Allahu akbar" Attack Christian Homes, Torch Church…

(AINA) -- A mob of nearly four thousand Muslims has attacked Coptic homes this evening in the village of Soul, Atfif in Helwan Governorate, 30 kilometers from Cairo, and torched the Church of St. Mina and St. George. There are conflicting reports about the whereabouts of the Church pastor Father Yosha and three deacons who were at church; some say they died in the fire and some say they are being held captive by the Muslims inside the church.

Witnesses report the mob prevented the fire brigade from entering the village. The army, which has been stationed for the last two days in the village of Bromil, 7 kilometers from Soul, initially refused to go into Soul, according to the officer in charge. When the army finally sent three tanks to the village, Muslim elders sent them away, saying that everything was "in order now."

A curfew has been imposed on the 12,000 Christians in the village.

This incident was triggered by a relationship between 40-year-old Copt Ashraf Iskander and a Muslim woman. Yesterday a "reconciliation" meeting was arranged between the relevant Coptic and Muslim families and together with the Muslim elders it was decided that Ashraf Iskander would have to leave the village because Muslims torched his house.

The father of the Muslim woman was killed by his cousin because he did not kill his daughter to preserve the family's honor, which led the woman's brother to avenge the death of his father by killing the cousin. The village Muslims blamed the Christians.

The Muslim mob attacked the church, exploding 5-6 gas cylinders inside the church, pulled down the cross and the domes and burnt everything inside. Activist Ramy Kamel of Katibatibia Coptic advocacy called US-based Coptic Hope Sat TV and sent an SOS on behalf of the Copts in Soul village, as they are presently being attacked by the mob. He also said that no one is able to contact the priest and the deacons inside the burning church and there is no answer from their mobile phones.

Coptic activist Wagih Yacoub reported the mob has broken into Coptic homes and has called on Copts to leave the village. "Terrorized Copts have fled and some hid in homes of Muslim neighbors," he added.

Witnesses said the mob chanted "Allahu Akbar" and vowed to conduct their morning prayers on the church plot after razing it.

The Yuppie Revolution In Egypt Is Over, The Islamist Revolution Has Begun

When it came to overthrowing Hosni Mubarek, the western media thrust itself into the situation and portrayed the uprising as a western-style demand for freedom.

Egyptians turned out in Tahrir Square on Feb 19 to cheer the vile anti-Semitic Sunni cleric Sheik Yusuf al-Qaradawi, who had been exiled by Mubarek, and who espouses the fundamentalist Islamic view that Jews must live as Dhimmis under Islamic control. Instead of accurately reporting the significance of this event, The New York Times whitewashed the cleric as someone who supports a "a pluralistic, multiparty, civil democracy."

Here is the video of the rally (in Arabic, via Israel Matzav) with the crowd chanting:

"To Jerusalem We go, for us to be the Martyrs of the Millions."

So where was the western hero Google employee Wael Ghonim, who became the face of the new Egypt ?

He tried to take the microphone to speak to the crowd, presumably to preach his western values, but he was kept off the stage by Sheik al-Qaradawi's security.

But you probably haven't heard that, because it was not widely reported, except by AFP, Egypt protest hero Wael Ghonim barred from stage:
Google executive Wael Ghonim, who emerged as a leading voice in Egypt's uprising, was barred from the stage in Tahrir Square on Friday by security guards, an AFP photographer said. Ghonim tried to take the stage in Tahrir, the epicentre of anti-regime protests that toppled President Hosni Mubarak, b ut men who appeared to be guarding influential Muslim cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi barred him from doing so.

Ghonim, who was angered by the episode, then left the square with his face hidden by an Egyptian flag.

Wait! No! This Wasn't Supposed To Happen!
Will Egypt's Coptic Christians Be The Next Big Genocide?

Don’t you remember?

It’s about the freedom?

They told us it was about the freedom.

* Violence is worst sectarian strife since Mubarak toppled

* Containing strife another challenge for military rulers

(Increases death toll to 13, wounded to 140)

By Yasmine Saleh

CAIRO, March 9 (Reuters) - Thirteen people were killed in violence between Egyptian Christians and Muslims, the health ministry said on Wednesday, as sectarian tensions that appeared to evaporate in the country's revolution resurfaced.

The health ministry said 140 people were wounded, state media reported.

The violence in Cairo on Tuesday night was the worst outbreak of sectarian strife since President Hosni Mubarak was swept from power on Feb. 11 by a mass uprising characterised by solidarity between Christians and Muslims.

I hope these are just growing pains but I get the feeling Egypt is going to have a rough time of it. I hope they do not turn into another Iran.

Clashes Kill 13 as Old Woes Beset New Egypt
CAIRO—Clashes between Coptic Christians and Muslims have killed more than a dozen people in recent days in Egypt, heightening a sense that the country's postrevolutionary euphoria is yielding to enduring problems including sectarian violence, poverty and misogyny.

They need a leader to lead them out of the chaos. With out that they will just implode.
