DL Terminates Labor Activist Kip Hedges

theres a petition that has garnered almost 8k signatures in an effort to help Kip get his job back.      This is one reason why at the very least the ACS and FAs should vote in a union

Because I do use the MIT data........So again, why is Delta's outsourcing still going up when you just said it isn't?
DL's outsourcing in 2012-2013 was 3-4% over the period immediately after the merger.

You do recall that DL refurbished the cabins at least of its entire int'l fleet in that period of time.

can you tell us the value of that work?

can you also tell us that DL could have done that work in-house?

DL clearly didn't think they could do that many cabin mods inhouse.

I want as much work done in house as possible. DL has made the commitment to retain an older fleet and use its US industry leading maintenance capabilities to support that fleet. I'm not sure where you think you would find anything better.

You can point to AA as having a lower outsourcing rate but only if you consider only native AA flights; on a combined basis, AA/US has a similar level of outsourcing. Further, AA is parking older aircraft far faster than DL is and their people have readily acknowledged they will have a major maintenance holiday coming.

And AA does nowhere near the level of insourcing as DL does.

where do you think you are going to find higher levels of inhouse maintenance on a sustained basis?

This is certainly gaining traction. Who saw the letter to the Secretary of Labor from Congressman Keith Ellison.

just because the Sec'y of Labor has seen the letter doesn't mean there is anything he can do about the case unless the complete rights of companies to hire and fire employees is terminated.

and your assumption from the beginning of the case is that he was terminated for labor advocacy.

I can absolutely assure you that DL knew the risk that was involved in terminating a 20 plus year employee and has their case in line.

and if DL has no case other than labor interference, then they should get hit up the side of the head.

I simply do not believe that will happen.

but you haven't seen his personnel file to know the full story, do you?

p.s. neither have I which is why I wouldn't jump to any conclusions about he did or didn't do or make the assumption that DL is in the wrong.

That's good enough for me.
Something WT could never understand in that little sanitary Delta can't possibly do anything wrong little world he lives in.

I can't wait till next year when the FA's file and the Clerks come in pretty close behind. Going to be an exciting year for labor rights at the Southern belle.

I didn't say that DL could do wrong.

I said from the beginning - go check it out - that if DL was wrong, Kip should pursue legal action.

The problem is that neither he or you or me knows what else has taken place or the full reasons why he was terminated.

Unless the DOL wants to rewrite the rules of employment which could have wideranging implications for the US, DL does have legal rights to enforce standards of conduct and performance for its employees - and until it has been definitely proven that they didn't base their termination on what was legally allowed, the legal assumption is that they did.

Yes, we know. Because he's pro-union, he can do no wrong.
Again, I will state, it takes an act of Congress to get canned from DL.... wonder what he really did?

And again, I will state that that doesn't reflect my reality at all.
What did he really do? He told the truth.
And I'm sure you know for a fact he was canned for one comment and not possibly because of "other" infractions he might have committed?

And BTW , what's the total cards signed right now that supposedly, according to 700, no one actually knows, but you?

Again, let me know when you have a reliable source stating this guy was canned , "specifically and only" for what he said in "The interview"!

You and 700 claimed hundreds of thousands of cards have been signed. How would anyone actually know how many when 700 states that the IAM does not like to let potential members know what's going on?
