Dennis Burchette is now head of negotiation

Throw in the AMFA Dogs and I'll buy it. :p

Provisioning AMFA Dogs is a violation of Carmine Romano's Tulsa base policy. It is a health department concern and not allowed according to his letter on the issue.

Of course provisioning Hot Dogs for other fund raising is not a violation or a health concern. Similar to Raffles being against State Law if it has anything to do with AMFA, but all other Raffles are not against the law.

Look for a labor agreement with once a week BBQ Sandwhiches.

I much prefer low grade hot dogs served by jerks in suits with fake smiles. That's what we get every so often as a show of love from AA.

Employee Appreciation Day.

In all fairness, though, they sometimes do it up really big time and give us each a ticket for one hamburger from the burger truck. I got to eat two one time because a vegetarian gave me his ticket. Really pulled one off on the company that time. Made up for all the concessions. :)

The employee appreciation days at DFW are usually put on by the Rec. committee with the profits from the vending machines in the breakrooms. So basically we pay to appreciate ourselves. ;)

Unlike the company, the Rec. Committee at least shares in their profits.

Yea......But we still don't get no friggen $50 gift card!!!!!

You'd be a lot better off with someone like oneflyer on your side for a change. In fact, the TWU should have professional negotiators, rather than expecting a couple of bubba's to be able to do the job.

With all due respect eolesen, I'm a bit curious, do you actually know anyone from Tulsa or are you just going by the rhetoric and BS you read on these boards? And please if you don't mind, can you give me your definition of "bubba"???

For a fleeting moment I presumed you were above the criticisms. But this and your "retarded" comments appear to show true colors. My bad..............

william, what makes you assume that information about Tulsa is BS? The fact that Local 514's president is anti-Line? Or perhaps that Tulsa twu had to rent a coffin instead of attend an open forum at the Bradey Theatre?

Using the word retarded is used to describe how, well, retarded a situation/person/scenario/etc. is. Relax.

As for the term "bubba" take another breath and exhale ssllowwllyy. You know exactly how that term was used. This country is made up of many different life styles/nationalities. And each has a stereotype.

Just like those appointed into the twu international. ;)

I probably spent more time in Oklahoma (including TUL) than 95% of the people working at HDQ today. Then again, stopping at a QuikTrip while passing thru TUL qualifies as spending more time in Oklahoma than 90% of those working at HDQ...

And please if you don't mind, can you give me your definition of "bubba"???

Why? Did I strike a nerve? Or do you resemble that remark?

Bubba |=> member of a good ol' boy network |=> classic description of both the TWU leadership and AA's maintenance management team in TUL.

Back to the topic, though.

One of my former housemates was a professional negotiator for CSEA Local 830, and his opinion was that allowing teachers, highway workers, and public safety workers to negotiate their own contracts was about as dumb as it is to serve as your own legal counsel.

Sure, it's cool to march in formation into the meeting room wearing "Team TWU" shirts, salute the flag and recite the Pledge of Allegiance (no joke... TWU negotiators really did this in a past negotiation...) before sitting down at the table, but none of that really matters when it comes to practicing the art of negotiating.

Believe it or not, even with the dysfunctional non-election of international officers, if you had a hired gun who wasn't emotionally attached to the discussions, you might be able to get a decent contract out of the TWU. Instead, you're continually outclassed and outsmarted at the table.

Eric, you are correct on all counts. The sad part is that the members do not even get the chance to choose our int. reps.

But with the twu it seems that even with effective lawyers it would not matter much seeing that the twu has given concessions for a VERY long time and is willing to do what the company wishes. But who knows? Perhaps burchette will go to sleep and wake up realizing that he is ineffective and insist on getting someone who is capable to do the job.

Exactly as I thought....like most of the discontented on these boards you are incapable of thinking for yourself in this case. A follower if you will. Because you spent more time than most in HDQ that gives you the right to
ASSume we are all "bubbas".

Outclassed and Outsmarted???? Prior to 9/11 the TWU had the best contract in the industry. This so-called bubba club has managed to save these complaining asses on more than one occasion. Or are you not one to give credit where credit is due? I bet if the shoe was on the other foot you would be on the defense of your precious management. I give very little credit to the success in TUL to management and I'm sure you have a different opinion but to stereotype them as "bubbas".....that's just juvenile. You've just joined that rank and file on these boards!!! Congrats!!!

And since when did reciting the pledge of allegiance make you a "bubba" or inappropriate for that matter?????? So you think that union members should not have one of their own at the negotiating table? I find that to be just another management ploy. Keep them out so we can once again screw them over. That, I do expect from you.

Eric's definition...
Bubba |=> member of a good ol' boy network |=> classic description of both the TWU leadership and AA's maintenance management team in TUL.

So, I guess by your own definition you too are a bubba????? Managers...members of a good ol' boy network (and may I add) looking to screw everyone who stands in their way of making millions. Classic description and a common public portrayal (not made just by union members) of big company management. HHMMMM??! I see the similarity now!!!!!
