All of this "poor mouth" is sickining. I'm impressed by the forsight of the TWU. It is good that they are intrigued to continue through the preparation for contract negotiations. This only shows their concern, and support for us all.

My well-wishes go out to our ATD director, and that he take the time needed to heal from his surgery.

I’m not impressed at all. There was a motion made at Local 565 pier to the Early Reopener date to start a committee to get ready for negotiations just in case the company wanted to go back to the table anytime after April 30, 2006. The motion was tabled.

Now the International has just figured out we have negotiations coming up and we need to pull our heads out of their a$$. That doesn’t impress me at all. To top that off they put Burchette in charge of it that really doesn’t impress me.

If Yingst needs surgery that’s fine, but hip replaced is genially an elective surgery. He could have used a little better planning. If he had surgery months ago he would already be back to work planning these next negotiations. So I’m not impressed at all.

ATTACHMENT 47.1

B. Early Reopener. Either the American or the TWU may elect to reopen the Restructuring Agreement by the service of notices pursuant to 45 USC Sec. 156, on or after April 30, 2006.

All that does is give us the right to beg.

This is all a scam...
How can you call this "early opener?" The contract expires in April 2008. Opening up in November is business as usual.
They have always agreed to open up negotiations months early with the hopes of having a new contract in place on the expiration date of the old one.

If they truly wanted to open up negotiations early, they would do it NOW!

This "early opener" nonsense is to give employees a false sense of hope because the executives are getting ready to accept their millions. They want us to believe that "we are going to get ours" by talking about our contract.

I don't see why anybody sees this as anything but business as usual!

Oh, please????

So ensuring the contract negotiation process moving forward is of no concern to you???
Moving forward? Its a done deal as far as the company and International are concerned, the only thing they have to do now is find a way to sell it so they can claim the members voted for it.

They already let slip that its a five year deal!! Who asked for that?

Remember when we gave the concessions? Little said we would get it all back with the 2006 openers. Well we see how the TWU delivered there.

Yingst for Burchette? They simply replaced a retard with a reprobate. We are screwed.

Now now, no need to insult the retarded community!

If the dues collection agency wants a five year deal, that means the company wants a ten year deal to line out cost long-term including the plane orders. I would expect from these pathetic company-men a 8 year deal, with 10% raise up front, $2,000 signing bonus, and 1.5% a year after that. Zero other improvements, and no language returned. And of course a shirt that says: "Will get-em next time in 2016 brother."

They've got to go, and go now.

You'd be a lot better off with someone like oneflyer on your side for a change. In fact, the TWU should have professional negotiators, rather than expecting a couple of bubba's to be able to do the job.

I agree. If it were me, I'd rather that my union spend some real money and hire someone who negotiates for a living (as in, often) instead of someone who negotiates once every several years.

Yingst is not retarded. He is just ambitious beyond his capabilities. And he really believes that other people buy his line of BS.

Burchette was put there to insure that the loyal TUL TWU voters will be taken care of. He will look out for their interests at the expense of everyone else.

Burchette will look out for Burchette, even at the expense of Tulsa, he has already proven that.

Amen. In a former life in the years after WW2, I put together an ad hoc group of disparate small 'non-mine/non-mining region' companies that had been organized by the catch-all District 50 of the United Mine Workers. They were being taken to the cleaners by the very professional UMW union negotiators when dealing with management directly or with local attorneys claiming negotiating experience, but never having dealt with the UMW.

We shared information on tactics; and the UMW was shocked when the same people began to show up representing the different employers. This got things on an even keel. And it made me well aware that labor negotiations should be conducted by very experienced people.
