day in the life of a customer service agen

no one, but this person felt their need to snap like a rubber band one more unneccessary time.
:-D
All I am saying is I think your under payed, put up with a lot of crap, and I have the utmost respect for you all......And I will always say "Thank you" whether I get on a flight or not......

How is saying one should find a job that pays more "snapping"? Just curious. If someone makes a statment that gate agent= low paying job one assumes they are dissastisfied.

I have a question I am really curious about, and would like someone to submit an answer.. . What do you think is a fair pay for a gate agents job? Seriously. I would love a response.

Keeping in mind the skills, education, etc needed to fill this job. What would be fair, not just to the employee, but the company. What would satisfy?

it is a low paying job....but it is a critical part of the operation . i dont really care, I only work part time and have a job that I got my education for .....but I think 12 dollars per hour is a fair wage for those working in a hub station like clt. i dont know how people are making a living keeping this as a job and not just a hobby.

i think every "department" is a critical job for the operation. one cannot work without the other.

The only jobs that one cannot hold without formal education (cannot be substituted with years of experience) are pilots.

So pretty much all of you who are being all catty who aren't pilots need to put a sock in it and STAY ON TOPIC!

You're no fun today Shannon because of your new campaign.

All i say is this, do you deal with the unrully passengers that crowd your desk at check with the I want I need you owe me this , never mind missed flights becuse they were getting a latte and it was dept time and the jetway was pulled back, or weather , or if there is a mechainical, or when the crew is timed out from a bad day in the system as a mechanic i am shelterd from the abuse they take and as a pilot they never see it unless the safety of the aircraft in which they command is in question The first line of defense for the airline are the customer service agents and the filght atttendants crummy pay and plenty of aggravation
and frustration , yes there is that in every job here but they have to hear it from joe the pissed passenger when things dont go the way they want it and no I have no connection in any way with anyone in either of these depts its just a observation I see in the terminal

i respect anyone who has to deal with other ppl's BS. i know how that is. yes, being a gate agent you have to be mentally tough, but other positions are more physically demanding. i cringe at the thought of spending half your day flying, even more when its your job and have to do it constantly. i tip my hat off to those pilots and F/As, i surely dont see my self doing that. or the rampers being outside in extreme weather conditions, like 120 degree heat or -15 degree freezing conditions having to stack i.e. 200 bags each flight. now think about doing that for about 4-5 flight everyday.

in order for the operation to be successful, everyone has to be in the same page. i dont see how one is more important than the other.

How about what we were making in 1999?

Walk a mile in someones shoes before you make uninformed, ignorant statements.

Ask yourself when your flight is cancelled and you and/or family associate really have to get to your destination ASAP
