Bye bye Tulsa

Thats the TWU and not the IAM.

I have lived it at US you havent, we have had stations closed and it always followed the CBA.
Your dreaming son. TWU,IAM or IBT.... NO DIFFERENCE.
Remember that industrial unions have to satisfy all groups they represent.
It is about the numbers and the majority of that number always wins.
AMT's lost work to other groups within the TWU. Deicing and dispatch and receipt are two that come to mind. They were contractual and the company with the blessing of the TWU just gave it away. No different then , no different now.

Just like the respect given to the union when they closed TPA and at the same time  had some narrow bodies on their way to contract overhaul......the IAM never had and never will have any B**** !!!!  Rumor mill now has it that the ramp will begin a/c repo in PHL....IAM response...they can do that!!!
US was in Chapter 11 when they did that, TPA Hangar wasnt a protected stations, and the IAM sued and won under the WARN Act and the IAM had to file a claim in Chapter 11 for the damages, and the court blocked any payment.

They can tow them, they cant taxi them.

Show me in the CBA that we were under back when TPA Hangar was closed where it was protected.

Once again, dont let the facts get in your way.

If you want to know what happened I will get you in touch with Tom Regan, he handled it and still has all the paperwork for the case.

CLT and PIT Heavy Mtc are contractually protected, as are certain line stations.
675 jobs.  That's not a pimple on the ass of the big picture anymore.

And Bill H. even stated that he's worried about that protection, but he told the newspaper we had nothing to worry about.  I'm so confused.

Good one.  I forgot about TPA.

And the rumor?  Not a rumor.  Ramp has already taken over the Steeler Charter, and the Pit and Pen State Charters when they use us.  And they have started APU start training.

The ramp guys are all for it.  It protects their jobs.  And the unions response, "they can do that, brother".

TPA:
"Knock, knock"
"Who's there?"
"It me, the Mechanic."
"Sorry, you don't work here anymore."
"Your job is in San Salvadore."
"The jokes on you."

Sounds just like what America West under Bill Franke did to their Mechanics back before the were represented by the IBT.  One day your here, the next your not.  But at least in TPA, they did allow the guys to come back in and get their tools...... Under Police escort.

Still waiting for you to show me where TPA Hangar was protected under the CBA at the time.

I was there when AWA fired 500 guys. I was the only one to get my tools that night! I knew something was up when  AWA called me at home and said things were slow so don't come in tonight. I immediately hoped in my truck and hauled arsh down there. I got there just in time. After I went through the gates I looked back and saw a bus load of security guards getting out of the bus. After about 5hours of running around they finally told me I had to go, I said "not without my tools I don't". They called the cops and when the cops got there I reported that AWA was trying to steal my tools. After a few rounds of talking they finally had to help me load my tools in my truck. They were Pi#$ed.

Wow that really sucked the big one. And here we are again with another merger and are clueless on how many toolboxes will be rolling out the door and how many managers desks will be cleared out.

So are we to assume that you did not require this training? And if you did, it was ok to invest all that time in training you but not for someone who is forced to bump to save their job? Please think about what you are saying. You did not hit the ground running on your first day on the line. You had to have training. Do not expect others to be required to know what you didn't when you were a newbie.
No. I earned these qualififacations over the past 13 years without the sleazbag bumping.

Why AA would allow any OH to line bumping is beyond me. Why should an OH mech with a different skillset be allowed to bump a fully qualified and experienced line mech?

Your average low time TULE mech is only qualified on the MD80. Let's look at what would be required if he were to say bump into....DFW.

777 Fam. 2 weeks
777-300differences. 1 week
Airbus 2 weeks
767 1 week
757 1 week
737 1 week
Then add avionics classes 2-3 weeks
Add other training: ETOPS, Logbooks, ground handling , run up-taxi, LMP, etc
Add various CBTs
Add airport classes, airport badge, customs badge.
After all this you still have an AMT with NO EXPERIENCE on these fleet types
How do you open the engine cowl on a 767? How are you going to fix that first-class seat (for which the passenger paid $7000)on a 777-300 on a gate call?
No wonder AA has raised the bar. No where else in the working would the bumping nonsense be allowed.

I can't believe that you oppose a mechanic from a overhaul base to bump into a line station if he or she is laid off. In my 27 years with AA,I have worked with many mechanics with overhaul backgrounds and most if not all have been great to work with. I wonder what your position would be if you were on the other side of the coin.

777-check
767-check
757-check
737-check
A300s-check
MD80-check
DC10-check
MD11-11check
Fokker-check
Alaskan Air-check
Omni Air-check
FedEx-check
C130-check
Airport badge-check
I think OH has it covered thank you very much.
I guess a Vo tech trained for 18 months should get a line position before an experienced OH 27yr bumper? NOT. Wow!

At DWH we are classified as an overhaul base. Everyone of us has these quals. In fact DFW rolls over junk that the line mechanics can not fix.
