Big Announcement Coming Next Friday

I agree with you on the antitrust issues. I doubt that the feds would allow DL or AA to completely take over the LGA assets of US. But post #22, relating the airliners.net rumour, mentioned DL getting "most" of US' LGA slots. If DL got most of them, I don't see AA being all that interested.
Yeah but doesn't AA have enough of their own slots at LGA that are consumed by RJ's? I'm certainly no psychic but IF AA and US are planning on getting funky with each other the amount of slots AA and US together have (used by RJ's no less) at LGA could maybe be an issue for the gov. or maybe this is just as simple as the terminal at LGA is not being used to it's potential and DL could make better use of it by consolidating all of it's LGA operation there and US/UA/CO or just US moving into the DL terminal.

Ive wondered if DL/NW would trade 733s may be 734s for 319s/320s and may be 330s then DL retires the 733s and 734s plus their own DC-9s and transition to an all Boeing fleet versus US' Airbus n Embraer fleet

US does have 734's. The poster was mentioning the possibility of swapping US's Boeing Fleet for more Airbus, making US mostly Airbus which is their intent anyway.

Other than the potential terminal swap and slot exchange, not much of this makes sense, unless as someone else says it is to eliminate possible anti trust issues for something much bigger.

I see CO/UA/parts of US somewhere in the future.

You forgot about UA's presence at LGA, which is a key airport in what Clue correctly termed "the largest O&D market in the country." Additionally, I think UA still serves EWR, another airport in the largest O&D market in the country.

"Lousy" p.s. routes? It's a given that you don't fly JFK-SFO/LAX very often.

Actually my last PS flight was 3 days ago. A 6PM departure on a Friday to LAX. The entire F class was filled with upgrades. In fact the FA took my order meal 2nd so I'm guessing everyone in that cabin was lower status and non-paid. Look at how much competition they have on JFK-LAX/SFO.

And when I said lousy I meant lousy spot on! Aside from the seat (which is an SQ seat by the way), United' PS service is a joke!

Even if US got rid of most of their LGA slots and only operated hub flights and shuttle flights (because we know those would not go), it will still be much larger than UA's presence. And UA's LGA presence, a 757 DEN flight, some RJ's to Dulles and ORD flights- some of which are going Express. Hardly key!

<SNIP> What is the topic exactly? Doug Parker will be booteted from Rio Dorito only to go onto Broadway and star in a revival of Les Misérables?

Rio Dorito is going to be my new term for Tempe.

<SNIP> If there are A330s involved, it will probably be DL getting rid of theirs (ex-NW) in favor of a 777 fleet.

Oh, no.

No, no, no.

I think AA still wants and needs a mid-Atlantic hub. Delta and US Air successfully fought off their RDU effort a few years ago. I think AA is interested in CLT as will as PHL. Also US Airways is there biggest competitor to the Caribbean.

I have a hard time thinking any of the big four are interested in PHL.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ PHL $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ makes more money than any other US hub. It's probably the #2 east coast international hub behind JFK. AA could work PHL and JFK together.

My opinion though is it will be CO/US/UA in the end. All Star members.

Steven Wolf will return from exile in Elba, and replace B.Ben Baldanza as CEO of Spirit. He will buy more E-190's than god can count, and although SWA is coming to kill us, U will likely buy TWA from AA, with the TWA pilots being stapled to the bottom of our list, since their airline is actually already gone. Consolidation is weeks away, as Barack Obama has made a UCT with China for additional new Chinese airliners which will be ferried in at night by the RC4, who will be freed and their sentences commuted for this top-secret operation. Crandall will return in glory to the helm of AA, and move to make a toehold in the now-abandoned PIT market. "United used to have a hub there, I have to checkmate them before they come back." A new mega-merger will be announced, with DL/NW merging with UA/CO, calling themselves Altair.

Both Elvis and my dog have both confirmed this. Elvis shares a crash pad in LGA with JFK, who actually faked his own death to get on the US Airways seniority list. Since he personally knows Babbitt, ALPA will be able to negotiate a $210/hr rate on the UFOs which will be taking over shuttle flying by 2010.

Rumors start to sound as foolish as this, yet we all still hang on them.

Wolf took a job as ceo w/ either chysler or GM can't remember which...
read the article on it last week... you can google it...
if I find it I will post the link... I think I read it on YAHOO finance

Adn I hear through reliable sources that Chip ( its a done deal ) will be heading up the E-190 subsidiary of DL/NW.

Part of any strategy to get Government approval of mergers is to propose to make more efficient use of congested airspace and airports by up-gauging aircraft. AMR/LCC combo would have to up gauge at LGA.

I see a more optimum use would be

UA/CO/AC (Star) in the current DL terminal.
DL in the current US terminal.

AA/LCC in the central terminal's three largest piers with shuttle and consolidated security if physically possible.

Wolf was appointed to the BOD of Chrysler and is Chairman of the Board at RRDonnelley & Sons Co and also serves on Altria's Board (Philip Morris USA)

That's a good point, but my sources are the last two A330 cockpit crews I flew with last week. Both crews said the same thing about hearing a rumor the company wants to replace the 767s quicker than planned. It's just a rumor and consider the sources.

They should consider using the 767's for Hawaii. The 757 we came over on last week was old. The inflight entertainment did not work at our seats, and this was in first class.
