Bang! - You're Unemployed!

:D You just wait until the $13.00 an hour people take my place and you will find out why .... he he he! :D Have you tried flying Air-train lately. I love the look in a passengers eyes when they arrive my gate after their Air-train flight xlds. They are so thankful to see someone other than the walmart greeter.

And Im also worth more than $13.00 an hour because I already have someone knocking on my door that wants to pay me more  IM just waiting on the 11,000,000.00 dollar man to say its over. Nothing to lose here.. ;)

Thank you very much oh Mr El Gato, Dami aragato, mr el gato....

I'm not on unemployment but was for a few weeks. You are only required to look for a job that is equal or higher than your last HOURLY (read, flight hour, what we got 70 of a month) wage. Someone wake me up when you find me a job that will pay me $24 an hour.

Cause that person is in a union, and has the right to bargain collectivly.
So you are saying that becuase they are in a union, they are somehow entitled to a higher wage?

THAT is the sort of attitude that has people all over America hating unions and everything they stand for. It is this false sense of "Well, I am in a union, and I now have got my employer by the balls!" that is leading to the rise of professional union busters and closed shop employers. Instead of behaving in a rational, understanding way, your attitude is one of which, "I want to get the most amount of money for the least amount of work".

I have flown Airtran lately, and I will say they are good for what I paid them for. They didn't try to cheat me, or feed me a line of BS about superiority. And if you check Airtran's recent financials, they are making money. How are you doing?

You have someone knocking on your door? Well, good for you, but from the way you think, I suspect BAD for them. Are you gonna goto them and try to start a union? Maybe file some grievences? Your high and mighty attitude is a joke. And whoever is knocking on your door must not be an airline, because no one is gonna start a new hire for more than $9/hr right now.

BTW, Siegel has $11M in stock. That means it is nearly worthless right now. Tell me, if he was only getting $200,000/yr, would it make you change your mind? I bet not, becuase nothing is gonna be good enough for you.

Amen ... Brother SeaTacUS.

Obviously El Gato, Kamikaze, is just a step away from Hara-Kiri.

Wasn't there a resturant in SJC or somewhere (Los Gatos) called...El Gato's ..

We'll soon know how this will all turn out.....Peace Brother.....BYCU

Check the medical and security industries right now. There are good wages to be made there, $24/hr should not be too tough to find.

I don't understand why people get into aviation thinking that they are going to make a ton of money for doing something utterly mundane in many cases.

By the way....like the KANSAS reference - "I am Kilroy! Kilroy....kilroy...kilroy"

I'm glad you like the reference, but Kansas never performed "Mr. Roboto," to my knowledge. It's a Styx tune.

Heh, I was waiting for you to show up.

I know how this all will turn out already. You will be unemployed, along with thousands of others. And I will be there for the new carrier that buys your gates, equipment, aircraft, etc. I will sit in the left seat you once sat in, but I will earn my keep. I will work harder then you ever did or could, and get paid reasonably for it - and actually earn it.

You will be sitting at home, wallowing in tears and despair, saying out loud, "Oh god! Why couldn't that meany Siegel have given me one more chance! Why did that greedy Bronner have to go and say, "Give me my money back and shut your stinking airline down!". Why, why, why?!?!!" PORTION DELETED

Meanwhile, life goes on, other people do their jobs at other airlines with dilligence and fortitude, and lead life with a smile...

Ickes! My bad. You got me there. They were around at the same time in the late seventies-early eighties.

El Gato speaks with conviction, but no spine. I summize from his postings that he is scared, doesnt think much of his labor value, and worse than that, would scab given the chance (see his very first posting). One is a human reaction, one is a flaw of character.

Labor gets what we negotiate, period. The concept of worth doesnt apply here. If the ramp negotiated rate is $19, then so be it...just like upper management negotiates for their million$.

Jobs come, jobs go. We're far better off with no Eastern, and no Lorenzo. Temporarily painful for many, long term everyone is better off.

Hey El Gato,
What do you do for a living? And what do you get paid? I am not the biggest Union supporter but I do know that what you get paid is alot more than what you get paid if there never were any Unions! And you can bet your paycheck on it we would all be getting paid less than $13 and hour no matter where or who you worked for. Management can only blame themselves for Unions. You don't address the ill management that U has displayed in squandering 2, I repeat, 2 rounds of concessions. So give back more is your answer? I understand were the future is going but I have to remind you of the past so you can get a better grip on why the U employee is so pissed off! It all started with Colodny. Like you he had a problem with Unions. So what did he do.............Go out and bought Piedmont, not many Unions jobs, and used the excuse that we have to make ourselves big enough so that Icahn and TWA doesn't take us over. BULL! That was only to get rid of the Teamsters. Where is Icahn and TWA today? The Railway Labor Act states that the surviving carrier rules so all of the Fleet Service jobs were to be union jobs. This company had such an obsession to get rid of the Union that they went to the National Mediation Board and requested a Union election. When have you ever heard of a company requesting a Union election? Never in the history of the Mediation Board have they granted an election by request of a company. It has to be by the potential membership and 35% must sign cards. How did they get this vote? Maybe it had to do something with the fact that one member of the Mediation board was married to a big wheel from Dobbs Corporation that just signed a contract with U to do food service. NAW! U got their wish and the Union was decertified. U made promises to all the workers that if a Union was not voted in there would be no loss of jobs, pay or benefits. I have a signed certificate signed by Colodny himself to prove it. Now pay attention cause here is the kicker. U could not wait one day. The day we were decertified they made us start paying on our medical, eliminated shift premiums, took away vacation, sicktime, holidays, and the biggy, froze our pension. All they had to do was just get on with business and leave things the way they were. No they could not wait to take away. What happened was once the Piedmont employees saw the real management team that lied through their teeth ,a request for another election was made by the employees a year later and a Company Union was voted back in. The IAM. This was not a Union representative of the Fleet Service but of the Mechanics. Still yet a Union was back on the property. Do you know how much money the company spent to get rid of the Union instead of concentrating on running an airline and not running a Union off the property? Millions and millions of dollars.Do you know how long the company paid off the Union to drag their feet for a new contract? 4 years! That is just a little example of the management mindset that has been on this property for the last twenty years.
I have been with this company for 32 years and I can tell you that you are right. This company is going down fast. Oh by the way i wish you people would get it straight. Southwest Fleet service and Customer service employees have a higher payscale and benefits that U. I don't know about the other work groups but that is fact.
PS. I know I waisted my time posting this but it felt good to get it off my chest.

EL GATO es PUNDEJO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chenga Te!
