I have to agree. Fortunately, the difference being that US Airways had to hire thousands of employees because of the way they did business. e.g. inhouse utility at all stations, mechanics to pushback a/c At least we are talking parity and not adding more costly jobs.

The new US Airways knew this merger was going to happen, so I wonder why they didn't bring the US East salaries inline at the time of our last give backs.

And by the way, as far as the f/a's are comcerned, we aren't talking about a huge amt of money.

There was never mechanics and utility at all stations doing cleaning and pushbacks.

The most ever was 30 mtc stations three shifts and 8 mtc stations 3rd shift only and US flies into 89 mainline cities.

Let see....it's April 1988. US buys PSA and we got a raise to I believe $18.00/hour. December we get a bonus check and things are still great. Then we started closing stations on the west coast. A little later we got cheese or cookies for Christmas. Then I belive there was about 3 or 4 paycuts. So for as far as AWA being thankful they should wait and see how things really turn out.

I think there are people in this world that like to sow seeds of hostility, because they're more secure to be part of a group or small group that is 'against' some other group. Simply being an individual that shares respect, common values and fun times isn't good enough, they have to have an enemy to go after with compadres.

I have not read anywhere that America West has "saved" US Airways, but I have read comments by Parker and the CEO of Southwest Airlines that AWA did "acquire or buy" US Airways. Is this were the angry post came from? I'm new here and still trying to catch up.

It would seem that a raise in pay is a great thing, but they would have still survived without a pay raise, wouldn't they?

True. It was contracted out. Perfectly qualified agents could not perform pushbacks or clean RON aircraft.
