That's right mweiss. So every one is worrying for nothing. Let's see how this plays out and let the IAM do what they need to do.

I never intended to call you stupid or a fool or imply as such and if that is what came across I apologize to you.
No apology needed.

With what you were saying on top of piney's preaching, that was enough for one day!

We are where we are and what will happen will happen.

I am not giving .0001, which is one-ten thousandth of an inch to these people who are getting paid mightily for doing what anyone off the streets could do, zilch.

Dave hired Jerry to break the unions, it's fact, and you are asking me to bargain with them, right!

You're correct; I don't know your life. But when I open up to folks most don't say to me, oh well you should see what happened to me, they say, I can't believe what you're telling me. I feel everything happens for a reason, I am here for a reason and that reason is not to be anyone’s footstool or fool!

Dave and Jerry crossed the line telling us in person right up front in the hangers that the BUS work would remain ours if we voted in concessions only to do the exact opposite. Now to come back and expect anything but a spit in the face is foolishness on his part and exactly why he should take his out and give this company a shot at surviving, because if he stays, there is a hell of a lot more of me's out there to deal with.

EAL wouldn't have shut down without both contributors. To place blame on only one side is myopic.
mweiss,
I never implied you said that about the union shutting down the company. I was agreeing with you that it takes two to tango. The company and the union. I was attempting to post and my reply came down lower in the thread than I anticipated due to the heaver traffic now posting.

Oh, OK. Now I see what you were talking about. You really had me baffled there...

Fine. I can buy that. So instead of "we'll shut the company down rather than negotiate," why not try "we'll negotiate if Dave leaves" instead?

Forget it. The Mechanics gave and are not giving any more. Fact is now where the Mechanics are it is very easy for them to find 'like' employment elsewhere. Even being on unemployment sounds good now.

Mechanic with his roll away tool box and nothing left to give. You can not hurt him any more.

So why aren't they doing it? Serious question.

Some are. Guys quit often. More and more leave. If the Mechanics give any more it would be no different then them taking a new job at a better company. Fact is they are paid just a little better than fairly easily obtainable jobs for them. So it is not worth it for them to give more. I am just saying they will fare well in the long run.

15 thousand $ severance

8 thousand $ retraining

At least 26 weeks unemployment

Recall rights for 5 years, in case a miracle occurred

Quit straight out and if things don't pan out exactly as plan, all the above are gone, why risk it, it's a sure deal, unless something 100% shows up, you stay.

Are you actively searching for employment elsewhere?
I may moving south is all I will say.
Then again it could be north, maybe west but NEVER east

But, then again, retirement looks real good about now
