Mike i did not know that a new ta would wipe out the grievances i thought that grievances dont get wiped out i do think that by bringing this out on here it has spurred a very good debate even pointed too

tim i sure do hope that the nc will be or has asked for retro and i sure hope and i do believe they will clean up the language too

So this is interesting , Al hemmingway was at one time a unión Man ? What did he do ? I always assumed someone like him came directly from college or a white collar mangerial job .

Well I dont need his entire resume ,I simply wonder what kind of Blue collar work he used to do , just curioisity , but it does explain how he's been such an effective negotiator ...

I know that he is suppose to be the "villian" but I accept that he is playing the part required of his postion ...still it's worth understanding how he looks at labor relations ...

IMO villain is to good a name for Uncle Al.

Freedom, AH certianly has different responsibilities then the Union. His job is to represent the comany to their advantage. Him being a complete and total douche is a bonus for the company.

Every Airline Inc. has a VILLIAN. Labor Unions at PSA,PIEDMONT,USAir,USAirways,AWA,LCC,and now AMR Group is AH. All these Company's have paid him lot's of our $ to play this role. Al and is Co- Villians have made sure that only AFA/CWA have a CBA going into the merger. He is ALL IN and has CALLED ! Not bad for a guy who started at PSA working the Ramp as a TEAMSTER. But, SAD !

United proceeds to outsource CVG, GRR, ROC, ALB, MDT, and TUS:

http://www.iam141.org/docs/071913.pdf

IAM acts like they were searching high and low for a solution to keep those stations mainline but apparently made no meaningful progress to protect those jobs. Now Eagle will be taking over those stations. Had they not imposed such onerous work rules that make it uneconomical for UA to keep those stations insourced they wouldn't be facing this reality. Of course having stronger scope language would help, but the recent T/A had the worst scope in the entire industry giving management carte blanche to outsource nearly 70 stations but unlimited part-time and split shifts made the agreement attractive for the union.

Unfortunately, IAM 141 signed a LOA last week agreeing with the outsourcing and agreeing to waive grievances in return for a couple more weeks of severance.

Tim,
Going forward maintaining and improving scope should be number one on their agenda. They shouldn't negotiate these garbage agreements with many loop holes and then act surprised when the company uses them to their advantage.

Does the Grand Lodge have any involvement in this? Sito and Ira should have done more to prevent this from happening.

Huh? Sito is a scab company rat for sure. Ira is terrible. The GL is mostly a pro management entity. My hope is with the membership, not the rats. I will POUND this leadership into the ground if they bring back some dopey ta with drop dead dates. POUND THEM.

So Mr Know it All,

Tim,
You're entitled to your opinion. You're opinion of Sito and the Grand Lodge is alarming. If your opinion is correct; then IMO we, as an IAM represented Fleet Service group, are doomed. Hopefully, your opinion turns out to be somewhat biased and the IAM will see to it there are respectable CBAs reached at both UA and the merged US/AA. AH is a true villan to US Fleet; yet he is nothing more than a puppet of the company. He is tasked with presenting the company's position concerning what is rightfully due to the Fleet Service at US. His position and allegiance however is clear and evident.Your opinion suggests the same cannot be said of Sito, the Grand Lodge and subsequentally the District. You insinuate that, although they are paid to represent the best interests of the membership, the GL is mostly a pro management entity. IMO... It's getting difficult for the members to determine who the enemy truly is. Which party has less regard for the livelihoods of the represented US Fleet in your opinion?

Don't you find it alarming that he [Sito] called a POS agreement "unprecedented" and that he is "extremely grateful" and you should "give yourself a pat on the back" for the work 141 did on that agreement? Sito didn't deliver results in the United FA election, nor has he made made any meaningful progress on negotiations at UA or US.
