Because it's a merger between USAirways and American; not USAirways, American, and America West.

These are nebulous and dubious rationale. Could you be more specific?

Apparently there is no contractual basis for the company to use one list, not now, not after effective date.

There is a contractual reason that the company is presently using two lists at USAir and upon the effective date USAir has made it clear they intend to continue using two different lists for USAir pilots. Its what we voted for.

On what basis would USAPA dare to presume the authority to unilaterally present a single list to APA?

Mr. Kirby explained this to you at least two times. "NO!" - "Because of that, the seniority integration never happened."

What if the decision isn't made by Mr. Kirby, but by the courts? One of USAPA's problems has always been a lack of plan B, call it back up plan Zanzabar, if you want:) How will USAPA deal with DOH in it's constitution when it still may have to use the Nicolou for the east/west list? Repeating DOH, DOH, and forging ahead, no matter what, is not a contingency plan either. Besides, what does, "NO!" really mean? You guys have been told by everyone involved that, "NO!", DOH is not acceptable and that certainly hasn't slowed you guys down any, has it?

I remember those kinds of stories, i flew with two ex-Pan Am guys at the commuter i was at. One thing i really remember, was that they both hated ALPA.

Had a little over 7 years on the 727.

I think I'll keep ol Claxon guessing for a while. Drives him nuts and I love pushing his buttons.

He'd better check essential and power the bus. His ship is going down.

Kirby has made it clear he will not intervene and merge the seniority lists without a contract. Thats a pretty safe decision. Ask Wake if Kirby is a smart guy.

I'm jealous, the closest I got to a 727, was riding on the jumpseat of a United 727 to SFO. I did get the chance to fly the early 737s when I first got on at AWA, that was fun.

I think Claxon may already be nuts, hard to tell.

I also think when this is all said and done we are all going to be better off, east, west, and AA. No matter how the cards fall.

When has USAPA had a legitimate basis for anything they've done?

Are you sure you want to answer that way?

You are the one suggesting USAPA will present a single DOH list. You seem to be suggesting that the basis for USAPA to submit a single list will be their "history" that they always do what is illegitimate... Then apparently you oppose a single list from USAPA as illegitimate and would advise USAPA to do the only contractually legitimate thing... submit the two contractual lists.

Someday, you'll thank Marty Harper for getting you that pay raise without further delay.

Whew!...Seriously!? THAT'S as delusional a fantasy as could be birthed within any carbon-based-life-form anywhere. Thanks for dependably doing your part in ensuring the predictable laughs around here never end. :)

Pretty sad parking them in Mohave desert, along with L-1011's and DC 10's. I still remeber dropping the stairs for the last time. Walking between rows of airplanes.

Claxon, aka Rainman? Repeats the same things over and over again. He doesn't make a bit of sense.

I'm ready for those cards to fall and move on.

I hesitate to post on this thread, things have a way of spiraling into insults and flame wars.

But would like to draw a parallel to the Pan Am / National merger; while over thirty years ago, it was similar to the US/HP merger. Pan Am had a great many pilots on furlough, the Sun King airline had been expanding and had a relatively junior pilot corps. NA had captains who were hired after Clipper Skippers on furlough. DOH was considered unfair to the NA pilots; I must confess that I don't know the details , but IIRC that ALPA came up with some sort of slotting scheme that few were completely happy with, but did go into effect without too much nastiness. Of course, there was no internet back then, just graffiti in the loos of the crew rooms. Not nearly as effective! :)

There is a bit discussion of the issue in Robert Gandt's Skygods (which an excellent read and finally back in print). I'll try to dig up my copy.

Surely, someone will correct me if I am wrong.

SkyGods is an awesome book, I could not put it down the first time I read it. The author has another book about Reno air racing that is equally hard to put down. He's definately got a knack for drawing you in.

One of my favorite passages: "......He was one of those legends that Wood most of all wanted to be like someday. He was supposed to be a hero. Something was wrong, thought Jim Wood. The Skygod was an ####."

I just looked, and chapter 21 is about the Pan Am-National merger, it's about 8 pages long.
