Tim
Since the merger we have basically changed focus from getting a complete exhaustive contract, to now looking at the things we feel that the membership must have prior to going on to full integrated talks. We have made these issues clear to the company, and will see what their response will be when we head to DC next week.
Charlie,
I’m not really sure what happened w/ the UA T/A, was it negotiated before single carrier status… or after?

joshie is a banker in boston or so he says, he has a hatred for the IAM and US,must be a spurned lover, lol

OK... let me get this straight... a banker in BOS is active in Airline Organized Labor? Hmmm... for what reason... stock holder...GOP Super PAC? C'mon Josh... what is your deal?

After the election was won by the IAM, they went directly into integrated talks. People on both sides will argue why they should and should not have. However we at US are not setting in the same boat.

I also want to remind everyone that everyone of us around that table gets to have our say so and equal vote. No ones vote is any bigger than the other. Small stations vote, is the same as say the hub station vote, which is the same as a AGC vote. We all are equal votes. Everything is discussed and debated, then discussed and debated again. At US there is no one person making the decisions for us all. All of us, do very well in bringing our points out for discussion. This is how we will continue until we get an agreement

Thanks Charlie…

Everything that has been communicated to us validates your replies. Ultimately, the Membership determines the direction we will take… just as the UA Membership established in the rejection of their first offer!

Remember… ALL of us will be behind you guys through this whole thing!

Roabily, you are the one who makes things personal. My comments to you were very objective and I left out any personal attacks. I'm concerned with the 'close by' stuff and our own housekeeping matters that we can control, not that the 'far from home' things in DC are not significant but the IAM legislative department is actually fairly good and is fighting the far away matters. [FWIW: I went to Ohio with a hundred IAM members and went to rallies in CLE supporting opposition against some new bills that failed] I wasn't aware of how the NRWA is finishing off airline unions but I'm sure we can be confident that the IAM will fight that just as it did the FAA bill. At any rate, I have never been a registered Republican although many Republicans have been supported by unions. Bush senior was endorsed by the Teamsters. Teamsters also endorsed Ronald Regan both times due to his tough stance in their industry. A stance that was much tougher than the democrat. OTOH, Clinton signed NAFTA. Go figure. Both political groups frustrate me when dealing with labor, not just Republicans. At any rate, you mentioned a few things in two post regarding our membership and a ta, and I wanted to challenge your premise, thus, I didn't personally attack you, I just objectively challenged your assertions. If you can not, or are not willing to defend them then I think you are being non-academic and at risk of intellectual dishonesty. regards,

Nelson,

This statement is ridiculous-- You have just admitted that you only view the Organized Labor Environment in the micro-dimension! Don’t you think that is ironic for the author of "The Big Picture”? Everything has a reason and/or effect… and that’s what I spend time attempting to understand, and ultimately clarify.

Perhaps, you should attempt to view, and express your passion in the macro-dimension… as I said, everything has a cause. The question is… are you attempting to be the cause, or the effect?

I too have watched josh attack 700UW and post misinformation, even with facts posted to him, he still posts wrong information.

Also 700UW on numerous times and a few others have asked him repeatably about who he works for, and did his company take TARP funds and he refuses to answer.

the negogiations in dc is that with the federal mediator board members present SECONDLY what happens if the company does not show up or they use the same excuse that they are not ready and dont have their so called financial experts CAN THE IAM 141 ask for a release at the end of the talks in dc even if the nmb will not allow it? there has to be a way to pressure this circus airline outfit and i believe that the iam has a lot of leverage esp in light of the merger announcement and the fact that the airline made offers to the twu

At the very least… this would be negotiating in “bad faith” which is actually NOT negotiating at all! I would guess as Charlie has previously stated… they would ask to be released, and with good reason! I can't really see NMB disagreeing.

before touchin any of those aa aircraft dont the aa folks who are on furlough have recall rights and if soo should they be the first ones to be able to come back to work and handle their metals til the actual merger is approved? i would not touch an aa plane til they had all of their recall exhausted

If AA ramper in PHX were displaced due to outsourcing, if the rumor Jester heard is true (and I'm about 98% that it is) the work is being outsourced to US. The AA rampers would have no recall rights AT THIS TIME. In the future, if the merger is approved, and if single carrier status if recognised (which it would be eventually if the merger gets approved) then they would be eligible for recall pursuant to the relevant CBA. As it stand right now, however, AA does not have rampers in PHX apparantly, thus they have no job to be recalled to.

thats bad unbelievable so pathetic at least thats how i feel bec being one of the many affected so i sympathize with them

Mark my words....Mgmnt will hire people so there will be no positions to come back too........that is kind of what happened with the last merger.
