There are plenty of people out there who are qualified to carry and would be 'trustworthy' such as ex military or LEO's but the only way any of this makes any sense to me is if it is a last resort as if all other measures have been taken to prevent a gun from come on campus in the first place. By the time a gunman is on campus it is way too late. The childrens lives are in jeopardy already. The goal should be to prevent the gun man from getting a hold of the gun in the first place, not preventing him from shooting someone once he already has it.

Don't know if youre referring to me but let me enlighten you on your society's mental health and why it is what it is. Reagan decided to empty the institutions and asylums by having people that were institutionalized for decades function with the rest of us, while they were medicated. The flaw was that people didn't know how to function in mainstream society and they don't always take their meds. So it might work well, but we have too many slipping through the cracks.

Worst case encounter for a homeowner is finding an intruder in their home.....most cases it doesn't bode too well for the homeowner.

Was reading about what Signals mentioned about releasing mentally ill.....seems it was the doctrine in an era where the deficit was an issue and medical industry thought adherence to meds was the solution instead of confinement.....which brings us here today. Its the mentally incompetent that are the issue and them procuring guns, but violent crime would not necessarily go away if there were no guns.
