Another School Massacre

Gun law proposed in California in wake of Elliot Rodger's killing spree

Police say Rodger, who was angry because women were not attracted to him, stabbed to death his three roommates, Weihan "David" Wang, 20; Cheng Yuan "James" Hong, 20; and George Chen, 19. Rodger then shot and killed 19-year-old Veronika Weiss, 22-year-old Katherine Cooper, and Christopher Michaels-Martinez, 20, in a rampage that left 13 other people injured.
He was nuts...

According to the FBI the ratio is 70% with guns and 14% with a cutting instrument. I wonder why that is?

Here is a pretty good op piece (yes it is from FOX).

Our mental health care system is a joke -- even mass murderer Elliot Rodger slipped through the cracks
Let me also say, Rodger’s murderous rampage had nothing to do with guns. Zero. He killed three of his victims with a blunt object and knife or machete. He injured others with his car. To all anti-gun nuts: Can we agree we aren’t going to outlaw hammers, knives and cars?
Last month, several weeks before Rodger killed six people and injured another 13, his family alerted his therapist to videos he had posted on YouTube. Those videos were disturbing enough to prompt his therapist to call a local community mental health center crisis team. The worker at that mental health center was concerned enough to contact police and instruct the police to visit Rodger to see if he posed an imminent risk of death to himself or others. And Santa Barbara county Sheriff Deputies did visit Rodger, spoke with him and then--inexplicably--just left.

That's nice. Still had nothing to do with the fact that the number of deaths caused by guns far out numbers the death of other 'weapons'. Never heard of a drive by knifing, a gun accidentally discharging .... Etc.

I believe saying that since we cannot fix all the problems we will not even attempt to fix any is a cop out. That not to say it can be fixed, at least not easily. I think we should at least be honest enough to acknowledge that the system and society is broken to the point that we think we need guns to protect our selves.

THINK?

Do you really think you'd be able to post here as freely as you do if the population didn't have 200+ million guns?

Would you ever admit that most (if not all) of the shooters were taking psychotropic drugs at the time?

I think Eric Holder should chance his last name to Himmler, Jay Carney should become Jay Joseph Speer and so on. I just can't make up my mind whether I prefer Barack Hitler or Adolph Obama, so I'll just go with Fuhrer.

Yep.

Nothing to substantiate that claim unless you have a source? You do have some he thing to back that up right?

And another Godwin. Good grief. Get some new material will you.

Mental Health checks being part of the background check will certainly be a good start.

The VA Tech shooter was found mentally ill by the courts, yet he was allowed to purchase what he did, because mental health checks are not legal.

And no where did I state that I was in favor of banning guns, I own several myself.
