SWA sucks, I agree, but hell, people trust management more than they trust AMFA. Where in the Hell is Dell? Where's he been? Look, some of us have a theory as to why the voter turnouts are so terrible at ALL the AMFA represented airlines and here it is; ( It doesn't matter what kind of turn out you get at an AMFA election, when the NWA managers Delle and Kevin put out the numbers it's always pathetic so the mechanics feel weak and powerless.) Before you start laughing or discrediting this think about it, are the members at Alaska and Northwest and United as pathetic as us at SWA? I find it hard to believe that we're all pathetic. I find it much easier to believe that AMFA is leading an Industry wide Union Busting drive for the Airlines and GW! Think about it, because when I asked at work everyone said they voted and against the extension. So, that leads me to believe that Dell rigged the election and gave SWA a 5 year Concession package. That is what this extension is don't you agree? Another AMFA Concession at SWA!

Yea I bet all the guys at SWA wish they had the TWU so they could be earning $32/hr in 2008 instead of $43/hr. I bet they wish they didnt have all those holidays, all that vacation, benifits, doubletime, etc. I'll bet they just cant wait untill AA is hiring again so they can quit SWA and work for $400 a week less!

How much money do you make if you are on the street?

I see the Amfa members at United continue to be furloughed.

The downward spiral continues!

Why dont you ask one of the thousands of laid off TWU members, both the AA ones and the TWA ones(they have been out for three years now).

the twu does'nt give a rats a$$ about aa mechanics who are on layoff, their no longer contributing to the dues flow machine. i learned this first hand in "93" when i was furlouged, oh yea the same time we were sending 727 work to delta!

I believe Local 12 stated the pay and benefit differences at SWA and you try and twist the issue to a carrier that is in bankruptcy. AMFA which is on the property is dealing with a contract and a legacy left to them by one of your industrial non-unions.

I thought I would warn my fellow NWA Techs that my lawyer has today filed suit against AMFA and Local 33 for Fraud. I was promised my job back and now in a letter AMFA states that the MSP recalls are complete. I am seeking damages for back pay that I was promised by Steve MacFarlane and for Future earnings that I have lost and for suffering my family and I have suffered since I lost my job. If this puts additional strain on Local 33's finances. I'm sorry about that. But AMFA must learn that you can't go around lying to people all the time and making false promises especially when it results in financial loss for a private citizen. It's simply illegal. I want to tell everyone that Jeff Mathews is the biggest liar of all the current AMFA reps that I've talked to so everyone should document anything Jeff tells you so you can sue him and AMFA as well when you get screwed over like I did.

The downward Spiral Continues!

I wonder if this can be also said for local 12? Are they held to the same standards about lying?

The downward spiral continues.

"The Downward Spiral" has continued for the twu since 1983 here at AA, and has hit rock bottom.

How low will you go cio?" Concessions for dues is the twu way....and its over for the 20 year twu sellouts.

"Show me the shared sacrifice", my a$$.

I make three times the money now than in 1983, So how do you figure this?

I also understand with aamfa out of the picture our hands are not tied. AA is not held to a certain criteria.

Sure you do, but according to Mr Owens' CPI chart, your wages haven't kept pace with the Consumer Price Index (according to his chart), and that proves that your union has failed you. B)

Of course, with very few exceptions (mostly at WN and, for the time being, the pilots at DL), the same can be said for every unionized airline worker in the USA. The events of the last 3 years have caused some erosion in wages. But they must still be pretty good, or the mechanics would be quitting in droves, right? If you feel you aren't paid what you're worth, why stay?

And as Mr Owens and others have alleged over and over again, it was all an elaborate scheme to "bust the unions once and for all." Maybe he's right.

But I predict that in a few short years, B6 will be but a memory and the employees at an even more mature WN will be discussing wage and benefit concessions. This year's giveaways to the FAs will eventually cause the pilots to demand more to keep up (the two guys in the front of the plane aren't going to allow the wait staff in the back to gain a bigger piece of the pie), causing the AMFA-represented MX at WN to wonder why they signed a 3 year extension in return for a measly 3% annual increase.

But the mantra among some is "AMFA will lead us out of this desert and into the land of milk and honey" and there is no convincing them otherwise. Remain an airline mechanic and you're probably screwed - it doesn't matter who represents you.

Thats funny, I could have sworn that you were not even employed at American Airlines in 1983? So now you are comparing your union wages to that of your union wages?

So do I have to be employed at AA? Since 1983 I still make over 3 times more.

I guess I could have a seniority date of 1991 and be looking for a new job, Like so many at Amfa represent airlines.
