The Amfa Downward Spiral Continues!!!
[post="190415"][/post]

You may suspect all you like but the fact is that post is just as credible as the ones you have where people criticize AMFA. I'm not claiming that such people dont exist but dont you think its strange that you have to go to a website where anyone can post under any name at any time in order to find such posts? For all we know you or some IAM official may have written all of those posts.

The fact is that that post was on "The-mechanic.com" just as the ones you guys are posting appear to be.

So how many cards have they collected for the TWU? None you say? Even if they did leave the AMFA everyone knows that the worst union on the airport is the TWU, just look around, Triangle, Worldwide, Swissport, Ogden, find the lowest paid airport workers and guess what, they are not non-union, they are TWU!!! The longer we stay with the TWU the closer we will get to them!

As you are aware the-mechanic.com posts whatever you send in, you are not required to register or sign on. Did Sonny make that post? Who knows? It has his name on it so it must have been him right? According to the TWU thats the case. Just like the ones that your boys post, the thing is we dont see any AMFA members complaining on this web site do we? Why is that?

ATA Airlines cuts 220 jobs
Thu Oct 21, 2004 03:57 PM ET
CHICAGO, Oct 21 (Reuters) - ATA Holdings Corp. (ATAH.O: Quote, Profile, Research) , parent of struggling low-cost carrier ATA Airlines, said on Thursday it had eliminated 220 positions to help offset excess capacity, soaring fuel prices and declining fares.
The layoffs, which were effective immediately, represented less than 3 percent of ATA's total work force. An ATA spokeswoman declined to say which jobs had been cut. The positions, however, do not include pilots, flight engineers, flight attendants, customs service agents, ramp agents, or reservation agents, according to an ATA statement.

ATA was particularly hard hit by hurricanes in Florida in September and August, according to the statement.

Soaring fuel prices and competitive air fares have hammered the airline industry, causing many to make attempts to squeeze savings from their labor forces.

On Wednesday, ATA said a $24 million wage concession plan that was recently approved by its flight attendants will not be enough to alleviate liquidity concerns. That deal was to be financed by a 10 percent cut in hourly pay.

Shares of ATA were down 8 cents at $1.63 on the Nasdaq.

Yea, Yea, Yea and the Downward Spiral of the TWU has begun. 220 at ATA and over 500 in Title I alone under the TWU.

On buck it's over 11,000 for amfa

Not sure you figure out the 11,000...

Nwa recall list which has dupes for different stations that Mechanics have recall rights to has 2,100 listed..
http://www.amfa5.org/Raw%20Documents/recal...ch%20recall.pdf

NWA cleaners show 450...
http://www.amfa5.org/Raw%20Documents/recal...ws6-28-2004.pdf

Alaska...approx 600 just announced, they were hiring up till this layoff and no one on a prior recall list.

Don't know of any other layoffs that have happened under AMFA's watch. So it appears your number is off by close to 8,000.

Now since we are talking layoffs, according to TWA M & R list and AA Title 1 and Title 2 seniority lists since the merger, these numbers are close to 20,000 not including the 1,500 FSC clerks added by the twu in the election attempt. With the latest round of layoffs, our new title 1 and 2 numbers are closer to 13,000 and dropping. That is a net loss of over 7,000 jobs that goes along with a complete gutting of our contract, something you must be proud of.

Layoffs Under the amfa's watch:

NWA- 4,876 (47.1%) layed off Detroit News
Aproximately 6,000 at UAL under the amfa's watch.
And then there is the 600 at Alaska. In fact if you do the math, aproximately 38% of the amfa's membership has been layed off. At one time the amfa represented almost 30,000 workers. Now they represent aproximately 18,000. The number of layed off TWU/AA workers is closer to 3500. You amfa guys are soooo weak. It's sad really.

If you are now going to start comparing lay-offs, be sure to include wage and benefit packages.

We gave up the farm in pay and benefit, and still lost the jobs, with more losses to come.

CIO:
Do you really think the layoffs are only in MCI and STL?
[post="193679"][/post]

A company spokesperson ( rule 32 ) stated in the Tulsa World this morning that those workers layed off in MCI and STL may have the opportunity to work in TUL.
This spokesperson indicated that the only change in the work levels would be work coming in.

If a position held by a longtime American worker in Kansas City is eliminated, that person may have the chance to claim a job in Tulsa held by a newly hired employee, she explained.

"If Tulsa is impacted by the job cuts, it is because of somebody's moving in," she said.
