AMFA at AA- consolidated thread

[sub]My preference is to have AMFA at AA, but seeing as they will not be on the ballot I will have to vote for IBT. The bottom line is, we need TWU out!! and at least with IBT we will be seperating the maint and related group away from the umbrella of all of the other AA workers we are currently lumped in with.[/sub]

[sub]I dont believe you will ever get enough people to do a write in for AMFA or I would go that route, this method will only dilute the IBT votes and lead to a TWU victory. I would say this was a learning experience for AMFA and all of us, you can call it trickery or just an oversight by AMFA and its supporters... Either way, they are not on the ballot and we need to make a decision, TWU or IBT.[/sub]

You might want to wait and see if you even get a ballot first.

Because if a union files short of cards there is a one year bar on filing for the represented group again for any union.

Game set match...
TWU asked the reamsters to run.
Now they are the spolilers that will stop a AMFA vote for at least another year.
By then the merger will be in full swing.
What about the IAM/TWU alliance?
I would assume that they will have to wait another year as well.
But you know what? I wouldn't doubt if the reamsters file short, or they don't win representation, the IAM/TWU alliance will get a vote.
JMHO, we will see... :p

As much as I hate to say it... I believe you may be right. I also agree with Dave's response : "if". I'm ticked AMFA didn't make the cut per NMB but we gotta oust the TWU.

Sigh...
It's your guys N' gals choice.
Research and make the best one.
Reamsters will not be your savior but more of the nightmare.

The fact of the matter is, these guys (AMFA) are trying to play ball with the big boys, (IBT, AA, TWU, NMB) they don't have the wherewithal to deal with them. They were hoodwinked by the IBT, caught with there pants down.

They should have had the filing ready to go at a moments notice. Ready to file within hours, and I mean a few, upon hearing the IBT filed. Now, of course everyone wants to blame everyone else for their failings.

I get so sick of the blame game. Grow a set of nads and take the heat for being dumb asses and move on.

I am as angry as anyone but who can you blame? The fact is that Don, Chuck, Dave, Mike, John and many others worked their tails off trying to help us get some new representation. They could not have predicted what happened. If the IBT turns out not to have enough cards for a vote it will show that their whole agenda was to thwart the AMFA drive at the request of the TWU and AA. Why did AA respond so fast? They did not want AMFA on their property. AMFA would not stand for AMTs to have inferior benefits than everyone else in the company. The TWU has pushed for this. AMFA also would not bring a contract back with blank pages where the work rules should be. AMFA will be back again and the next time it will be harder for the TWU and AA to deny the vote. Just remember that the TWU owes AA for helping them again. Jim Little is making plans right now to give even more of our money and benefits back to AA to repay them.

Why would you divorce a woman just to marry her bigger more expensive sister?

You blamed everyone but the organization that let you down. Have you no common sense at all?

Common sense? I'll match wits with you any day. The organization you speak of is us - AMTs at AA, not some bloated union with a bunch of over paid stooges running around trying to put a spin on all the corruption and BS you represent! You slugs couldn't handle a real runoff election cause you know you would get your asses handed to you! So, you resort to an under-handed, backdoor deals. Just the kinda shite we have been trying to get rid of. Oh you might have a few simps on the property at AA who's dad was a Teamster, and for some sentimental reason they may bite. Then there are a those that hate the TWU, and would do almost anything to get rid of them. Sometimes better the devil you know, than the devil you don't.

To get away from the rest of her family (ie fleet service, Jim Little,etc)... You dont have to agree with me, this is clearly an unfortunate situation to say the least. If left with voting for TWU or IBT, I will roll the dice with the IBT. If we have to wait another year to get AMFA so be it, but Im not going to cut off my nose despite my face.

Voting for the IBT is worse than a nose cut. It is a Femoral Artery cut.

Look at the guys over at UAL, they have got a major case of buyers remorse after voting in the IBT. The Teamsters have already shown what they are all about - smoke and mirrors. Not even on the property, and already conspiring to block a vote through a technicality having AA show up within hours with all the required documentation. When have you ever see the company do anything that fast?
Fact is, I doubt the Teamsters have enough cards.
You would be playing into their hands if you support them.
They are counting on you to be weak.
