American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

Alright I’m not sure that this is a good idea but let’s give it a shot again anyway?

You’re technically correct. But now you have many many years before there would be a complete transitioning out of those FT Employees and by that time there will be new agreements reached in subsequent contracts.

Operationally it also doesn’t make sense to have an all PT Hub and carry so many extra employees to manage the operation so the entire premise is a straw man argument.

I’m sure all backfilling has been through PT hiring. But I’m sure when the operation gets too difficult to handle they upgrade to FT as needed. As far as the 2 PT working back to back 6 hour shifts not being grieved I’d hope that’s doubtful if the language allows it to be a winnable grievance. In man hours though it just doesn’t make sense to hire 2 employees to work in certain locations where things can be don’t more efficiently with 1.

Don’t forget each employee carried has other expenses besides just wages.

Anyway I suspect at least for us here at AA we will at minimum keep the language we have at one or the other contract if not even strengthen from their with some form of “Status” protection which did exist in the TWU Contract prior to 2003.

(Whatever your Status was on DOS you were “System” protected in that Staus)

You can come to my hub and get FT if you want... ...haven't hired anyone in 8 years (2008-2016), and the people that were temps were kept on from 2016 on ward, most were kept on permanently. A whole lot at FT. When "Project Quality" came about after the merger, it was a disaster. it proved that you cannot run a hub at suboptimal levels and make the workforce majority PT. I've seen it; lived it; and working thru it. And the people who have came here from either transfers, or coming over from Chelsea, wonder how in the hell we manage it here. It is a whole different world than any other hub or station inf the system. They always need people in SFO (due to the high costs, so that would be expected) and DEN in the process of rebanking (don't know if that is done or not).

All I can say is that we are slowing recovering here........Just wanted to put that out there.

Thanks T5. I always hope when the topic turns to issues regarding your group you might pop in to lend “credibility” to the actual facts.

BTW saw that in DFW back in the day too. Prior to the BK DFW was capped at a max of only 150 PT. That’s since been raised there. But it’s still a very senior location due to the low cost of living.

If you want to get into to DFW you pretty much had to transfer in.

Anyway it sounds to me as if life isn’t so bad now under the Management of Munoz and Kirby? Unfortunately Smisek never ended up in Prison where he probably belongs.

Not sure where the confusion lies. Are YOU able to discern a concessionairy contract offer from one that is not concessionairy?
One is a positive contract and one is a negative contract for the membership, not just you. Of course you do have to weigh how it effects you personally.
Giving up work is a NEGATIVE thing. Once it starts, it will never end until all are gone

Over the year's contract negotiations have become Loss of Wages vs Benefit Improvement.
But the TWU has always found it's way to the bottom.

There you are attacking the acronym again. Always trying to attack that stencil on the glass door.

BTW the bottom is across the field at the MRO’s.

Maybe you should apply to one and find out where the bottom truly is?

BTW Buck I’ve never really understood why you bite the hand that fed you?

Under the TWU structure you’ve always had the Mafia style protection of the “Role Call” vote. That roll call is what kept AA having more OH (TUL) than any other Airline. Pretty much every other Airline and every other Airline Union dumped OH long ago. (Should I repost that SWAPA President letter again saying how much more work AA has in Maintenance over SWA?)

Frankly and honestly “many” Line AMT’s can’t stand you guys in TUL and you know it.

I’m not trying to cause any division by writing that but everyone knows it’s the truth so it’s not like I’m telling some big secret here.

Perhaps but I was speaking of the Transport Workers Union, AFL-CIO or maybe even your Association.

Oh you mean you’re being narrow and selective. Ok I got your point then.

Do you also have the smallest bush in front of the left side of your home that juts out between 8 to 10 feet compared to only 3 other houses in your neighborhood?

Just like to be clear how you look at things is all.

In this situation, the hand that feeds me is American Airlines. Even the IAM negotiators have ripped the Mechanics off...
The problem with your roll call at the convention the Air Division has always been outnumbered. Don't you think that we have tried that route?
As for the Line guys hating those at Tulsa, reevaluate, the Line Mechanics hate the TWU in Tulsa. It has been the union that took from them.
As for contract negotiation Fleet has always been a dividing factor, always wanting more. The politics of the union are what I cannot stand the most.
Socialists trying to capture control and killing babies.

Did you? I did not use an acronym?

This is all I need from you. The rest needed to be erased to get through to the nitty gritty.

The nitty gritty really isn’t that you want to be represented by someone else, the nitty gritty is you don’t want to be represented at all. Or at least not by any group that doesn’t share your Political viewpoints.

I don’t personally give a rats ass about your guns or if you want to kill an entire Football Stadium full of Babies with an AK47 wearing Jesus robes screaming scriptures.

Too many of you guys out there focus too much on all that bullchit for my tastes. To me only old Farts obsess over stupid Politics.

In the 03 concessions TWU 514 was able to roll call support to keep as much for themselves as possible over the higher cost of living locations.

Because of the very existence and size that TWU 514 commanded was an assurance that it would survive any attempts to allow more outsourcing so Line Maintenance could equal the rest of the industry in wages.

“Many” Line Mechanics hated you TUL Mechanics because just like DFW for Fleet you all never cared that wage cuts for more expensive locations would be much harder than on you.

Point the finger at whoever you want pal but you ain’t pointing your own greed in mine or my Groups direction.

You cats in Tulsa Oklahoma live like FAT HOGS and you know it.......
