It would be nice if the leader of the other union who currently enjoys a decent contract could join in and show true Association solidarity. Otherwise the members will continue to view the Association as a farce...

You see we can agree on things and on this one I agree 100%. Sito Pantoja spoke of Solidarity years ago at the TWU Convention where Harry Lombardo won the Presidency and now I can’t even find that video on YouTube any longer?

I have made friends in the IAM and I respect them as individuals but I can’t condone the individual silence of the IAM as an organization.

It does speak volumes. And it’s more frustrating than the behavior of the Company quite honestly.

Absolutely no resentment toward any of the IAM members here. If I were one of them, I would be defending the situation as well. I may not deliver it in the same manner as some, but I totally get it.

You didn’t make your comment as an attack so no one should (could) take it as one IMO.

But I don’t think anyone can defend their now years of lack of participation without explanation.

Shoes on the other foot I wouldn’t be defending the TWU.

This is part of an E-Mail update on TWU Local 568’s Tuesday Membership Meeting where they discussed multiple issues but this was the part that particularly spoke on Negotiations.

  • JCBA Negotiations Update
“We discussed some serious issues about the JCBA mediation meetings, where one of the as of now is the scope where the company wants attrition, in other the company wants to take away our work, the company is basically after us, for our jobs.

The company to use a type of language that will open the door to massive reduction as the company fitshey want everyone to work on what they called core work of offloading and loading of planes which means lay-offs in many into perspective Miami alone would be affected by 702 FSC jobs includes Cargo, Bag room, Lavs, LTS, Encoders, Expediters. The Negotiation Committee and the International have the responsibility to bring back the contract possible. We don’t agree with a concessionary contract. Not when the company is making record profits, all we are asking is to secure and guarantee the jobs we already perform. Also, the Crew Chief scope is an issue where the company wants to make the Crew Chief part of the crew and in the belly.”

The iam should be there in support, and iam members should be in these rallies and things in support as well but almost all are morons or need to be told. Very few among them that stood up. And you shouldnt respect that nonsense. It telegraphs to the company how we are divided on this.

Joining Grassroot Movement / Cowtown Creative (cont.)

TWU International Vice President Gary Peterson said the partnership focus on creating connections and bringing to light the challenges Local members are facing with American Airlines, which they are dedicated to . "The current offshoring plan demands that TWU members agree to thousands of U.S.-based jobs in favor of cheaper foreign labor," he said. "Our members are vested in the safety and security of airline passengers and flight crews; contract workers are not. This campaign is designed , and that's the story we want Cowtown Creative to tell."

We want everyone to know what we as Fleet Service Clerks anyone ever asked what an airline pilot does,

Campaigns will be by Cowtown Creative and will run on TV ads, billboards, flyers, bag tags, among others.

It’s what they do best. Sorry man.

So is this confirmation that you’re not really interested in being represented by the IAM any longer?

Because if you haven’t enjoyed the way they operate for it seems like many number of years going all the way back to your time at NWA, I can’t honestly see why you think they’re going to ever change their course?

Nope, just disappointed to see some things never change.

Ok but has this been standard operating procedure going back to when you first hired on at NWA?

If so you have to recognize that a Leppard doesn’t change his spots. (Very rarely actually)

Nope, just disappointed to see some things never change.

BTW I can’t reiterate enough how proud I am of my TWU to show support to the Mechanics of SWA and AMFA.

(Just wish the conversation of SWA didn’t dominate the AA threads though)
