American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

Good go with AMFA and it will take you ten years to get a contract with Parker. Is that because the card drive with the AMP died out? It has only taken us 6 years to get a T/A with a muti billion dollar company that has never filed bankruptcy. You talk about all this transparency a union will never get you more than what the going market rate is. If they do they will let it go so long before they file bankruptcy and throw your contract in the garbage.

I will do whatever I can to avoid history repeating itself. I think you may have delusional syndrome or delusion disorder as an SWA employee on accepting the fact and reality, your precious non bankrupt SWA is now like ever other airline to include dragging out negotiations for 6 years. You can not and could not comprehend or accept your company would willfully enact on you, which takes two parties willing to negotiate in good faith- called reality. Delusional disorder, previously called paranoid disorder, is a type of serious mental illness called a "psychosis" in which a person cannot tell what is real from what is imagined. The main feature of this disorder is the presence of delusions, unshakable beliefs in something untrue or not based on reality.

You have plenty of AMT,s at SWA who have gone throughout tuff times at other airlines and can help you emotionally with your mental state. Looks like it just maybe SWA, I know several buddies at Alaska who got a contract real close to their ammendable date (not 6 years), so you have to take off your blinders and look outside your sphere of SWA. Please Wake up and take NOTICE from our mistakes, you should be thanking me.

We have seen and lived a intentional 10 year negotiation period prior to include dragged though Bankruptcy under TWU and told everyone to vote Yes for the current TA, not willing to fight. Now again, TWU has created yet again a start of a 4 year strung out negotiating session again....sense Pattern?

Sorry got to call it for what it is.....Here is a definition that explains the culture and mindset at AA and my coworkers are mentally-
Repetition compulsion is a psychological phenomenon in which a person repeats a traumatic event or its circumstances over and over again. This includes reenacting the event or putting oneself in situations where the event is likely to happen again. This "re-living" can also take the form of dreams in which memories and feelings of what happened are repeated, and even hallucination.

The term can also be used to cover the repetition of behaviour or life patterns more broadly: a "key component in Freud's understanding of mental life, 'repetition compulsion'...describes the pattern whereby people endlessly repeat patterns of behaviour which were difficult or distressing in earlier life".[1]

I have a psychology degree so spare me your analysis Sigmund Freudian bullshit. There is something called denial , and your psychosis is this ,75 people out of 10,000 is going to produce no change whatsoever, in your situation. I served in the U.S. NAVY, plus been at Two different Airlines, before SWA, and had my seniority stripped to nothing. I don't need some long winded writer trying to sound intelligent to talk about the airline industry. Good luck in your card drive, better figure out a way to raise about $200,000 to make it happen. The Association will pull out the stops out, and you guys will be left holding an empty bag! 🙂

Driver suffers from a malady called amfacosis. He both hates and fears AMFA at the same time. There is no known cure for this disease and the prognosis is grim.🙁

I do not like them.My fear is they will continue to brainwash you, never securing a contract because the goal post is constantly being moved, an then driving the bus off a cliff . Leaving another path of destruction in their wake. If that is AMFAcosis more power to you.

Absolutely hilarious!

Ok even though this nonsense should be over in the SWA threads since this is American Airlines here I’m going to ask anyway.

Do you think it’s normal or acceptable to wait 6 years from the time of your first Negotiating session till now to finally vote on something?

And this was a simple question that doesn’t need all sorts of fluff as a response.

Look how long other work groups are taking , even other airlines are dragging negotiations out. It seems to be en vogue among airline upper mgmt. to drag negotiations out as long as possible. Your contract negotiations could go on for years also. It looks like the new normal.

again i ask, what is fleet service doing to get a contract? are you making videos, rallying the troops? what exactly is fleet service doing to help themselves?

other then looking to maintenance and their reps to lead the way?

Ok fair is fair and yes it very well could. But for now here’s where the differences are.

The TWU/IAM Association had to start from scratch with multiple workgroups looking at multiple contracts with multiple philosophies. Not to mention all the multiple personalities too.

We’re not in Section 6 yet or under Federal Mediation. We have Contracts that don’t become amendable for a few more weeks.

I know you’re Company was trying to decimate what was left of your Scope so your AMFA just chose to keep waiting it out. My question always was (still is here) when should the Leadership put it to the Membership to chart the next course?

I’m sorry but 6 years of actual Section 6 talks with no vote is ridiculous IMO.

I don't have a definitive answer for that question. When negotiations drag on and on and the Co. doesn't want to budge off of their totally unacceptable must have's, is it wise to just have a vote because things are taking too long?

Except for in MIA the systemwide protests have had more Fleet Members participate than Maintenance personnel. But you can make a contest out of it if you’d like.

Do you want me to say that Fleet is engaging in a concentrated effort to have illegal work slowdowns and safety Holliday’s? Or perhaps you want a contest out of that as well and we can talk about all the Aircraft that are being put out of service lately?

Your Maintenance Rep Gary Peterson is now an International Rep and should be speaking more fairly to include Fleet in his video updates considering the position he’s in. But then again maybe this is a Maintenance Union after all?

Sorry I can’t be more specific for you in regards to what Fleet may or may not be doing but after 23 years I really kind of want to keep my job, ok.

Wise or not the NMB would never even think about releasing you to Strike or set up a PEB if you don’t have a vote. But if you did Strike how hard would it be for your Company to hire the replacements to cover 2300 people Nationwide?

So as I see it you’ve been stuck in limbo waiting for Management to back off any Scope hits just to pretty much wind up breaking even on that?

Am I wrong?
