American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

Not LUS management.

And even if the IAM *prime* were to go away do you really believe the appointed high paid officials would come back to the line? Based on IAM history they likely would still be i. Grand Lodge, 141 or 142 service. The union officials always take care of their own. And the very fact that the Association FAQs back in May 2013 addressed the question of what new positions would be created by the a$$ was answered as “existing structures will remain in place” just shows it’s all about the leadership remaining in their cushy roles.

The TWA people didn’t leave and come to AA (or hit the streets) by all indications USAIR would likely be no different.

Josh

Dude this GARBAGE is why I don’t engage you very often.

They would likely stay on administering HA, NK, and UA effectively crowding out/significantly diminishing the prospects of any opportunity for a current dues paying active HA, NK, UA member of 141 getting an opportunity for a cushy appointed AGC or GL role. That’s what happened with TWA.

I think you need to prepare yourself to be shocked then.

I’m not saying that we can’t do flights with a 3 man crew if that’s what the Company wants but they’re going to need to extend out that ground time then. Hell we can even go down to a 2 man crew if they want to extend out that ground time even more. But if they want to keep to their current turn schedules they’ll need to continue to staff appropriately.

Jester we do our work well but we DON’T rush and bust our asses and risk getting hurt to load and shuttle bags. If honestly that’s the way you’re used to doing things and enjoy it, more power to you.

3-man crews were a relatively recent development actually with the introduction and realities of A321's and the separation between F1 and F2. Prior to the merger with AA, US did not have F1 and F2, but just "forward", and the idea of unnecessarily placing 30 bags behind the first cargo bin net would have been inane. We were short-stacking kings observing 2-inch bin gaps, especially without Power Stows.

When the fleet was mostly A320's and A319's, 2-man crews (plus the lead) were the expected norm with the possibility of a temporary "hit team" person on an A321 during a heavy flight. If no hit team person would be available then the Lead would announce over the radio s/he was refusing the freight for an on-time departure, which usually involve the wrath of Managers immediately afterwards.

As I said, I would be shocked if decades of AW/US efficiencies would be written-off to accommodate LAA methodologies, especially in the era of $33/hour wages and Power Stows.

FYI I don’t stutter. Maybe you need to sit down because LAA TWU Cities aren’t going to be following the lead of whipped LCC AW Phoenix AZ and bust a nut shorthanded for any on time departures.

Management has pushed time and time again over the years and every time we push back.

But hey if you’re a CC and you want to get in your daily workout again you do whatever floats your boat. No contract is ever going to prevent you from sucking it up and being a good little TeAAm player.

Metal I’m reading that on the AMP FB page they kicked off one of the chief facilitators of the drive to dump the IAM out of US and replace them with the IBT because they didn’t like the questions he was asking?

I’m also hearing that they’re dumping others asking questions calling them TWU or IAM trolls?

“IF” this is true, that’s a great way to win over signed cards.

NOT!!!!

I know nothing of these goings ons! No FB for me....
However, if true, all I could say is that after the stunt the IBT pulled in collusion with the TWU to thwart the AMFA push, I want NOTHING to do with the IBT or ANYONE associated with the IBT...
BTW, I was willing to vote for the IBT for what its worth. But It became obvious they were in cahoots with the TWU.
So, I could see why they tossed the IBT mouthpiece.

They have to legally file an LM2 if they want to be considered a Union for Representational purposes. I hope the AMP Founders know this?

BTW you don’t need to put ASS in front of the word every time. I know that you’re more mature than that.
Ok, I'll just say ASS from now on!

Good luck getting Cards from 9000 + like minded thinkers then I guess.

I’m going to be Mountain climbing by hand this weekend myself.

Weez we are on the outside looking in.I would wonder why any of the AMTS would not want to sign a card, especially if this drags on.Heck I listen if someone from fleet were floating the Idea

Al you and I being unskilled laborers by definition makes it insane for us not to remain with as these Mechanics call them, an “Industrial Union”

Mechanics went to Trade School so they have a little more buying power to be able to tough the wilderness out on their own. I see no NWA repeat bloodbaths on the near term horizon?

What are the minimum ground times for A/C coming through MIA?

.

The short stack seems to be a lost art anymore.

In this day and age with strikes and job actions near if not impossible what can the TWU union offer that our own Can't? The only reason I went with the IAM is I figured in the event of a strike we along with the mechs would completely shut down the airline.Again strike days are gone not an option

To follow up I would be totally ok for CB,PREZ and NYer along with others to run the show if they were willing..........as long as they answered to Tim.If Tim wanted to hire Josh as a consultant Im good with that too

Different depending on the load but narrow bodies are roughly an hour. They leave the clock at the original out time to make you rush (If you’re that dumb) and then they change it when it’s down to about 20 minutes to its actual objective time.

To be fair though with the staffing we have even 4 men (Plus CC) I can always get out of the belly, take a drink and towell off and still load it out with the bags spaced reasonably for me (5 to 6 seconds per bag)
