American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

LUS Medical is THE main holdup.
Neither will budge so as Parker explained a mediator will be brought in to try and do some shoving.

It certainly will be, if it isn't already.

If they continue to make moderate progress on the scope issues all that will be left is the medical and there is no compromise on that issue.

So basically, it's ok to lose the catering jobs without getting anything in return such as Cargo? On the LAA side Cargo stays as well as deicing in some locations? Seems a bit lopsided to me. Can't blame the IAM side for not going along with a plan that gives away jobs, and significantly increases the medical costs.

Update

What the company has proposed in scope is a friggin joke and negotiations 101, never show your hand!!!!

He's got my vote at least banging hookers is consuctive
That's what Stormy Daniels said!

The biggest issues with Fleet Scope so far has been them wanting Catering in LUS IAM cities. Catering is roughly around 350 jobs in CLT alone. And Deicing in TWU cities that were not on the list of cities the Company backed away from like DFW.

There are other Scope issues as well left unresolved that haven’t been publicly divulged.
I'm not certain if this could be a hold-up, but LUS does not have in-house Air Freight in the hubs, whereas LAA does. At one point, I think the IAM was attempting to gain freight back, which was outsourced in BK by the company prior to the merger.

The same scenario is true with Catering -- LUS has it, LAA does not. It could be the company is arguing that they want to outsource BOTH catering and freight, or a variation thereof. Either way you cut it, it's a loss of scope for the union(s).

Maybe CB, or someone can clarify if it is permissible for them to discuss the matter.

We don't want them to cut jobs.
The Company doesn't want to add jobs.
Where is the compromise?

That's up to the association, the company, and ultimately the mebership in the final agreement. I can tell you this, a frozen snap shot of jobs, as they correlate to scope in the present, is not necessarily where the business model will want to go in the future.
The loss of ANY jobs covered under recognition and scope, is a PERMENANT loss of jobs for the future!

SPIT is constantly spitting out that the company’s goal is divide and conquer which is probably true to some extent. Question: why are you guys (IAM Leadership) never there during Doug and/or Roberts appearances. You have never been there in support of the TWU/Association and yet Three E Board members including the President drilled Doug on the state of negotiations including the medical you currently enjoy. It’s my understanding they even had a MIC in CLT to provide Doug questions during the Airline report and not one person asked a question. These updates ask for continued unified support, but it seems as though only one side is standing up.
Why is this?

So no job loss, but no expansion is adequate?

Why is this?

They were there when it was an effort to bring everyone together at the last earnings call meeting. This time it was Local 513 and if we're going to say the IAM should have been there then shouldn't there have been more Locals there too?

Take the Association t-shirts. Should there be a better-coordinated effort for distribution of those shirts to make it more of a unity campaign rather than just an ad-hoc distribution?

Seems like a missed opportunity.

NYer everyone knows now that you have a “special” relationship with Management and in particular Jim Weel, but you need to stop letting him fill your head with nonsense there son.

There more than likely will be a compromise of some type although what that compromise will be as yet remains to be seen?

BTW will you be handing out Association T Shirts since you were it’s biggest cheerleader? C’mon do it in memory of your former Puppet Masters who don’t even think about you any more.

Just hand out the damn T-Shirts and if there is another call to unify be prepared and try to do a better job than you did the last time which was terrible. Thank God the Mechanics showed up since you could only rally one table of FSC’s.

Terrible.

Edit: Why did you take out the T Shirt stuff you wrote? I’m sorry that I captured it here before you deleted.

Don’t know about all that, my very simple point was the TWU was there representing the Association in Dallas today, the IAM had the perfect opportunity to represent the Association in CLT today, on the biggest stage. Today was a missed opportunity. To your reply, no, I don’t see the need for more locals, the TWU was represented just fine. The IAM not at all. If the IAM leadership was at the last call, I’m not sure I saw that, especially with any questions. I will admit in LAX, they did put up a good argument and good showing. And the t-shirts...MEH!

Where is the 12 BILLION DOLLARS the Company squandered on Stock buybacks?

Wow and you’re really taking compromise? WTF?

That's my point. Negotiations is the Association, not the TWU or the IAM.

If we're making a point of unity and want to give credence to "divide and conquer" arguments then shouldn't we be looking for the actual certified negotiating body, the Association, to make a stand or have a presence for all of us when it comes to negotiations? We should be consistent with that argument and if we look towards having the TWU and/or the IAM making appearances rather than the Association then we are also participating in "divide and conquer" as we point fingers to one side or the other.

If your position is that the Association needs to make a stand I ask again. Will you be handing out the Association T Shirts?

NYer is trying to ignore me so would someone else please ask him if he will be handing out the Association T Shirts he’s received?

Otherwise if he doesn’t this entire post he just wrote is nothing but pure BS!!!!!!

This is TWU Local 501 Vice President Angelo Cucuzza handing out shirts to his membership.
