American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

Do you really believe there would be any leverage there whatsoever? You think the TWU Executive Committee is going to be frightened in to accepting a bad deal for 18,000 Members for 345 Rampers that still would have bumping options? (Didn’t do the numbers for Maintenance and Related)

345 people Al. (I finally decided to look it up)

160 in STL
111 in SJU
74 in SAT

Oh and even though it’s not going to happen anyway here’s where most would try to go just for the goof of the conversation.

Most of the STL people would probably retire and the rest would scatter all over.

SJU the top guys would retire and the majority who bump would try to get into MIA and some to DFW.

SAT the top guys would retire and the rest would go to DFW. (They’ve hired a lot since the BK so lots of junior members there now)
Weez there are probably 1000 jobs with the 175s throughout the system ok now we are up to 1375 peeps Fu@k em you say

Yes Weez they will all retire and worry about their healthcare another day.How come in your mind you can't grasp that the company has used closing stations in negotiations in the past
The Weez obviously isnt concerned with scope

LOL W, I guess we have a misunderstanding. I said "not a chance in hell' which means either "To be completely impossible" or "incredibly unlikely". I'm going with the latter and is pretty much the same as "the likelihood is slim". Tomato or Tomatoe? :)
I agree that it would be a very hard sell to give one part of the work force a better deal than the other. Some sort of one time compensation deal might work. Maybe the pilots or FA's have a me too clause in their deals for any improvements other unions get. It just sounds pretty sour to give people a deal that the LUS people got and then take it back for nothing. I just don't see this working out very well at this time. It's a huge hurdle to get over. I don't think this mgmt group is concerned as they are the ones paying, so any delay does not bother them. We'll see what happens and maybe get surprised somehow.

Yes they have and they have because idiots can’t realize that if the Company can’t generate the revenue out of that city to compensate them what they demand then it’s much easier just to push to close that city instead. Other cities aren’t going to subsidize their asses and we can’t afford not to fly there either.

The Company has commited publicly to 40 cities so far. They’re not going to back out of that for all the bad blood it will cause. And I’m SICK of repeating this crap too.

And I really want to know how many cities CWA is in? I think they’re over 50 cities.

Stupid TWU past morons got us all the way down to 17. Dopes.

After a little more than a year in Section 6, even the IAM guys will be losing more in potential compensation than what they're trying to save by holding onto their medical.
I think you are right, but maybe they feel it is worth it.

More than 50, this is just CWA side of the association in the “East”:

Not sure if the IBT has a dedicate site for AA agents in their side of the association.

Sounds to me as if the IAM has a much bigger gun being pointed at them than the TWU has with those 3 small cities I guess Al.

Maybe you guys need to relent that Medical and those Catering jobs then huh if you’re chicken chit about those 1375 peeps?

Besides Al they get laid off they ain’t bumping here to MIA.

A one time thing might mean 1 more year of our plan I think

Thank you Josh. If this list is just for the East then they must. There were some that can’t be counted because they were Reservations and a few were Regionals. But even with that it looked like over 50 staffed cities just for CWA.

There still may be another 20 or 30 more for IBT?

Relent those jobs? Isnt that whats happening?

The improvements as known currently not even counting possible further improvements amount to around $10,000 for a TOS TWU (Agent)

$3200 in wages ($1.00 per hour + .50 shift dif)
$3800 extra Holiday pay (If all Holidays worked)
And around an extra $3000 in 401k contributions if a member is putting in the max to capitalize on it.

Overtime should not be anticipated into annual earnings as that can always fluctuate.

It is a one-time payment but do not forget the signing bonus, which I do think should take seniority into account. If the move to Workbrain is going to cost TOS employees more then our bonus should be higher. If TOS is about 3X starting rate, I do not think it unreasonable to ask for at least 2X or 6000 for TOS signing bonus.

IDK but I was just at BUR-all Eagle to PHX only-and they are staffed with LUS IBT agents. Not Piedmont, Envoy, etc. So closer to another 30-40+ would be my guess.

Really? I doubt the Lus guy who’s insurance premiums double or triple will be able to sleep at night knowing your liberal swap policy and ot rules screwing pters went away

I am not taking a position on whether you are right or wrong, but doesn't the LUS medical kind of do the same to PT to the benefit of FT?

We need not to take concessions
Define concessions. Would you agree, that in some cases, holding out to avoid concessions for some on a can be more costly in the long run? Especially, in our case, where a concession to one is not necessarily, a concession to another?
May be worth it based on principle, but not financially.
Principal doesn't pay the bills. Although it is a concession for LUS many are not willing to die on this hill as I see it. I believe the company knows this as well.
