American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

I could forget the BILLIONS AA continues to put onto your frozen retirement funds.

Someone here made it sound like the company's doing me a favor by funding the pensions with billions , well, my point is the bk judge ordered them to maintain it, and then theres those pesky funding laws out there. And, I should be grateful to the company for funding it after they wanted to steal my retirement claiming they're bankrupt with $5b in the bank... my ass.. they screwed me, I'll never forget and never forgive..

No Love: Southwest Airlines Refuses To Stop Fighting Its Expert Mechanics In Court Even After Contract

"While harmony between Southwest and its own expert mechanics seemed around the corner after the new contract, the company chose to continue the discord, demanding $20 million from AMFA, a permanent injunction aimed at future bargaining..."

Uh-oh

At least our union fights for the members. Your current and previous unions just cave all the time. When does it stop with your unions, present and past??

Here in Clt every manager they hire is dumber than the one before. The worse by far are ones they hire off the ramp. Chitty agents they make managers of, each one a company ass kisser

We've had 0 go from ramp to manager last i could remember was before the merger before that 30 years

Pretty much the same with my experiences where the Dunning-Kruger effect were rampant in the worse of the Leads thought there were smart enough and respected by their soon-to-be former co-workers to be Managerial talent. I recall one in PHX, "Diablo", who left his union protected position only to be shown the door in less than a year after becoming a Manager. Another one was bucking hard to be a Manager, but given his previous terminations for time-theft, even senior Management rejected him-- but his lips continued to be chapped from non-stop a$$-kissing.

It’s looking like history trying to repeat itself. AMFA raises the bar once again and corporate America panics. Don’t expect any backing from the industrial dues colection agency’s they go into panic mode too.
I wish you brothers well and with Seham your in goods hands.

what do you mean by base? its all hours worked and paid. if you dont contribute they dont contribute.

Are you saying that AA does NOT provide a fixed contribution

They need to new younger managers for cheaper salaries to pay for the new pretty buildings at HQ.
I mean it looks nice and all but it’s expensive

Bringing in new mgmt. is also a good way for companies to erase institutional memory.

I’m like stay the F off my gate.

Pretty much my mantra the whole time I carried a radio.

You can spin it any way you want, my pension took a major hit.

Another reason why labor needs to stop dithering around with pensions and take back control of their retirement.

Rumor deal is done and AA dropping lawsuit..
How much did we have to give up for that.
Thank you Samuelson you f___ing idiot.

If the IAM keeps their IAMPF then I want AA to reinstate my frozen pension. That is a wishful thought since the Dictator association gives no say to its members.

If the association allows the company to continue contributions to the IAMPF and offer them 401k similar to ours then we TWU members should have our frozen pension reinstated. Until all rumors are proven facts we can only wonder what the hell is going on in the hall of deal making.

Thank you for the kind words. You know, having an attorney who has also fought for the labor side of huge professional sports teams (baseball, basketball and football I think) he is a sought after labor attorney for many unions out there.
Hope to hear of some positive news on your end at the end of this week. The good news so far is, we have not heard of the nego's being shut down due to some union idiots trying to be thugs and open their mouths without thinking.

You do realize we’ve already lost one pension to termination?

And you do realize that the IAMNPF contribution and you 401k match is equal for a topped out person?

And you get 5.5% on ALL hours worked, we only get it on 40 hours.

And I’d like some of the $921 million AA contributed to your frozen pension this year so far.

This is what you get when the asso does not do daily updates. With todays electronics it's easy peasy to do. With no updates you get rumors and misinformation spreading which is not good for the progression of the nego talks at the table still going on.

I seriously doubt the deal is done.
I don’t expect it this week.
I suspect if real progress has been made new dates will probably be set for late Oct hopefully to finish it up and we can vote by Nov

Ok so do the math.

AA: 401k and frozen pension.

USAIR: PBGC, IAMPF and 401k most likely in JCBA.

401k terms TBD on outcome of JCBA. If the USAIR guys get a 401k match or contribution and keep IAMPF contributions then the IAM is the clear winner.

IAM- 3
TWU- 2, we lose.
Not blaming individuals here just pointing out what I see if it turns out in a JCBA. I blame the association especially the TWU for whimping out to the smaller IAM and the association for selling out its members on representation.
Who ever comes out on top should take advantage. The real blame is the dysfunctional association.
