American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

Oh great yet another month of waiting for nothing to happen.
I’m so sick of this crap.
This will just delay everything into next year once any decision by the court is made.
So I call this a big win for the union leaders since this is just what they wanted more delays to try and get more dues members on the property.
For the TWU guys I feel for you as you must continue working under your crap bankrupt contract

For the TWU guys this is just an extension of more and more pain.

Talking with my LUS coworkers, they have no need or want of a new contract. They see anything that effects their healthcare as a bad contract.

Can anybody list the outstanding items from each work group that they will not sign a contract unless they get exactly what they want.

Does anybody know if it was true that the association is fighting for the IAM current healthcare insurance just for the IAM AMTs or for ALL associations members? And if current TWU members at IAM majority stations will go to IAM insurance once we are combined, and vice versa, current IAM members switching to TWU ins once they are turned into TWU.

This having two unions is a real great idea and is obviously serving its members well, and by no means is it creating division amongst its combined 20 different work groups.

My prediction is this, :

The union will get broke by the judge. We will be forced to accept the concessionary deal. Title 2 will get thrown out the window. The mechanics will decertify the Ass.

Then we will all retire.
First point likely
Second point far down the road
Third point unlikely, apathy

I liked Kirbys philosophy of not tossing empty seats out into the market cheaply at the last minute.
Seems as if Isom is the opposite, with first class. He has made it so easy to pay a slight upgrade fee at the gate that alot of premium passengers are just waiting for the upgrade at the gate instead of sinking $$$ for first class ahead of time.
Kirby is smarter and better educated than the who ever is running this gig at AA. You can't run a mom and pop corner store the same as Amazon. They'll just make money for them then blame the economy and the employees for losses and declare BK again or bail on their Golden Parachutes. When the bubble breaks watch what happens.

yea but the union is acting like this is the 1980s where there were 40 airlines and a good strike opportunity.
So the union dropped the ball and allowed parker to pin the operation on the mechanics and save his job.

It's their attempt to get this to be determined as a "minor" dispute, rather than the current "major" dispute.

Minor = contractual remedy (i.e.- grievance arbitration)
Major = Federal remedy (i.e.-NMB, Court)
has weez been seen at work? I dont want any bad will on him.
That dude was a big part of this case and scrapping our negotiations.
We all told him to chill but he wouldnt listen. He didnt know he was the mule.

good. I was just checking. He isnt the brightest bulb but I dont want that bulb to go out.
Hopefully, he learned from the errors of his way.
I dont have anything against him but he started destroying our jcba talks and the company had to take his missives to a judge.
We need to refocus and get professional and schedule negotiation dates instead of court dates.
Do you think this case will drag out with union appeals if the judge eventually hands out massive fines to the union or individuals?

If the injunction is ordered (likely), I think the NMB will schedule dates and the Association lawyers will advise to get a deal in exchange for the legal issues to go away.

I think the one month time frame is a message to get our act together. If delays and OTS dont improve by then the judge may impose a fine. A fine by the judge if the company proved their case. I believe both sides are working on a JCBA to vote on soon before this gets out of hand. More scheduled mediation sessions would make sense to show both sides are serious to hammer out a deal. This of course is my opinion based on that vague update the association put out. They put out better updates during negotiations.

hopefully you are right.

I have been trying to tell you guys for years. (oops I meant to say months, Almost told on myself.) That there is NO SUCH THING AS NEGOTIATIONS. The company puts out a amount of money they are willing to spend. The Union has to figure out how to divide it up. That is it. The company will NEVER increase that amount. We pick a bunch of Drunks to figure this out and they fight about who gets what. Now that will have IAM/TWU, We are really screwed. They have less people than we do, but they get a 50/50 vote. Why would the EVER vote to take away what they already have.

The ONLY way out of this is to get rid of both of them. But that will NEVER happen because WE are to stupid to make it happen.
That's the old way with the TWU.
With two unions and new management negotiating tactics who really knows except they definitely want to get rid of as many of us as possible.
