American Airlines Is More Focused On Litigation, Not Negotiating the Contract Our Members Deserve

As was said earlier, our negotiations with American are not only important for our members, but for the whole airline industry. The Company is currently near the top of their outsourcing of work maximums established through bankruptcy. Our fight on SCOPE is simple, we are fighting for our members’ seniority to improve because of the merger, not be reduced to less than that of a vendor or foreign worker. American Airlines continues to cross the line and has again failed in their effort to deflect from negotiating at the bargaining table by negotiating directly with the Association membership. We are proud of our members resolve in telling the Company “negotiate at the bargaining table, not in our breakrooms!”

Below you will find the previously exchanged proposals for Fleet Service on RECOGNITION & SCOPE and CLASSIFICATIONS & QUALIFICATION. In addition, you will find the M&R SCOPE previously exchanged between the Association and American. Our commitment remains to negotiate the best pay, work rules, and benefits for all Association members. What members will now have are the “actual proposals” made at the bargaining table, not the “Company’s working documents” of what they want to present to Association members as “their proposals.” The Association has designed proposals that we believe provide our members with the Company’s promised “industry’s best agreements.” We know that some portions of these original proposals would have forced the Company into hiring more members than maybe they wanted, but as the world’s largest airline, it seemed to the Association that this fell in line with their promise of doing the right thing for their workers. Alternatively, you will see that the Company has not moved off of their onerous demands to “Offshore and Outsource” thousands of our members’ jobs, while Robert Isom freely admits their plan is to grow and further prosper. In fact, the Company does continue to grow and prosper.

In an effort to complete negotiations, since our initial proposals below, the Association has made proposals that are less robust than those initial proposals. However, we are not willing to bring the membership to a vote on a contract that allows American Airlines, a Company making billions of dollars annually, to destroy our member’s seniority, work rules, and benefits to less than what they have already taken through bankruptcy.

Yea! We finally get to see the open items the Ass wants and to me it’s nothing new, most of it is way more then they should know by now that they won’t get, the cities they want to have deicing alone is laughable.
Sure I get it you have to ask for the moon to get what you really want but it seems clear if this has been on the table now for a year or more and still the company has not moved then isn’t it time to change some of those items see if you can get movement and try and get a deal? I’m with Tim though I think the idiot tirade in LGA has doomed us for a year or more and we will continue to be way behind our peers with the possibility of a downturn in economic conditions and then what? Yep a smaller offer
It’s done boys and girls and we have the Ass to thank for leading us nowhere

I'm guessing acting like a tough guy in NY doesn't scare anybody in a Texas boardroom.

I say go on strike and lets see what happens. Who's tougher the union president who won't get effected or the airline president who already broke one union at another airline. The real winner will not be the mechanics who are forced to pay dues to the association to maintain employment at AA.

I figured your turn the other day was nothing more than a momentary lapse of your insanity.

He must have over looked that part either that or it didn’t fit in the the position he wanted to pushe

O

I’m sorry but there is absolutely nothing in what is being proposed by the company that will effect my seniority that hasn’t always been effected. My hire date won’t change and I will still be behind the guy right in front of me no matter how this Ass spins it,
It’s so laughable to even try and use this as a rallying cry to get the uninformed to think we are being screwed.
The company is going to continue to make its billions but once we are sent to the back of the negotiating line there just won’t be as much to spend on us

See the union would have you believe that keeping these catering and deicing jobs is about maintain numbers, people and it’s true.
But what you should get is all the other expenses associated with those jobs. A deicing truck alone cost around 100000 dollars then there is maint of that truck, keeping and maintaining the fluid for the truck that cost too is prob around 100000 dollars.
Now the catering truck may be a bit less but then they too require maint also we don’t own the docks so each time we pull into a dock for our food and supplies there is a dock charge.
All of this adds up so to station expenses. So keeping this work in the many stations that the Ass wants is more than just bodies

Speaking from a maintenance view, I`m absolutely stunned, speechless that this crap is what the association put out. Disappointed and disheartened, angry. This association has no respect for its membership because they do not have to fear being replaced. So they sit there and thumb their noses at the membership. Nearly 4 weeks of promises to release our position and we get this. Year old stuff that is admittedly not even our current position. How this body can expect the membership to get together and support the EC or NC is beyond me. Arrogance on full display. If the NC had any sense of duty or honor. If the had any respect for this profession or membership, they would all step down en masse immediately. This crap they put out is simply unconscionable but not at all surprising. I will continue to support my coworkers and do my job IAW but I`m DONE with this unelected, illegitimate association and its appointed leadership.

Agreed

Nope i still dont want to give in to any concessions.Airlines used to look at the price of a new contract and the price if the airline went on strike.Usually they would fine tune the price of an offer so it was below that of a strike and you would have an agreement .Business is a funny thing sometimes. You know what weez we dont have striking as an option anymore. On a personal note, has lesser opponent ever threatened you and how did you take the threat

At LGA where LUS contracts out deicing US owned the trucks maintained them.US bought the deicing fluid store it in US owned tanks maintained by US. Hell US even bought the refractometers the the contract company was suppose to supply.A year like this year it hardly snowed but we still had to pay the deicers. If a pizzeria is busy on weekends you bring in a delivery boy for those days not the whole week.
