American Airlines and Labor Negotiations

I didn't read their contract. I could very well read what they got, but I don't know what they had.
Now having said that, just remember they did not have an Association sharing them and they were negotiating essentially for themselves.
And don't forget what they did to move the process to its conclusion.

Ain't never gonna happen here.

Here at AA, the main concern is shift swapping and resting up for the real daytime jobs.
We actually gained somethings, and didn't lose scope. All the changes from our exsisting language to new language are in the green highlighted words.

That's good to hear. But i will repeat the fact that you don't have an association sharing different interests. Aside from that, SWA has always operated lean in all areas. For a legacy carrier like AA to move to that model, it will require headcount reduction.

WeAAz, if we were ever to get released, we're looking at 6-7 years just by judging AMFA/SWA and UAL/CAL/ IBT. I will be long retired by then.
Now, I applaud you for being willing to stay out til the end. You might think just a little bit differently if you had a wife and kids to support.
And yes, unions cannot win anymore especially in an anti-union climate as far as government is concerned.
Metal standard fight is min of 5 years, industry wide. We went 6 years and 7 months, to get a deal that will most likely pass. The best your union can do for you these days, is maintain your scope as much as they can, and get you a raise, and some improvements in your benefits, maybe a better match on your 401k. The company will want some kind of relief to pay for your raises, through attrition, or contract something out, that you have to make sure will not hurt anyone on property now.

The difference is, the 83 guys voted themselves a pay raise and doomed everybody else to lower pay working for same company. Our union decided to go from 5 to 8 year top out without membership approval.

We after a 16 year concessionary contract would like a very nice contract and some would like to retire with a nice bonus after a decade plus concession.

Like in 83 the industry is again changing. Unfortunately the 83 b scale was neccesary for all the airlines to grow after a tight economy deregulation, and the Lise of the LCC. Now we are dealing with outsourcing, our association is worried about future positions, there will be less positions but at highest pay. AA will still be the lowest outsourced airline with highest pay.

Unfortunately the normal standards of the 40s - 2005 of every airline doing their own everything is no more.

And lighten up Francis, not one executive from either LUS or LAA came down asked our opinion on the merger.

Also stay off the forum so much, you sitting around on the internet and the bags not being unloaded is giving all unions a bad name. Miami is the worst for waiting for your luggage to come out, I think we just figured out why.

You are that same guy from 1983 now ready to sell out the next batch of futures for money here in 2019.

All these years later and now it’s time for you to cash in just like they did.

Yea but you all had to stand up and fight to get what you have now.

Something none of the people you’re talking to here are willing to do (Yet)

They need a few years on ice to toughen them up a little IMO.

We didn't get them to back off scope for 5 years. If they would have given the 3% raise for 2018, and paid say another 22 million in back pay, they would have had a deal that passed last year.

So maybe we have to wait another 3 more years or so as well.

I’ll GLADLY wait.

Tick Tock.

I would say you need to do the math, to see if the raise they are offering, is worth the language changes they want especially if you are getting close to retirement.

I don’t care. I’m not interested is selling out the future for personal gain. I like seeing the new kids come onboard and it’s just not how I operate.

If Parker wants to run the business with so many workers because that's what the board of directors want to make their earnings ratio, that's what they will do. We made the best deal that made us whole and we didn't lose anyone, and actually gain a few people as we grow the fleet. But that's up to your group.

They will do what our Contract says they must do or they will ultimately if need be face a Court order mandating such.

It is their business to run ultimately but they can’t run it unrestricted.
