While this is an emotional day, I will remind you all that making personal comments or insults about another poster is strictly prohibited.

You may comment on the post and the information therein, but the attacks on 767jetz or anyone else for that matter will NOT be tolerated.

I dont think the airline will survive in present form 6-9 months from now. This is not part of the solution but the beginning of much bigger problems. I believe the only chance for survival is to sell the airline. It will only be more acrimonious as a result of this election. Good luck to all on both sides wherever and whatever our new jobs may take us.

Amen sir. None of us, by any of our choices, was dealt this merger "hand" to play.

But thank God for your sake you were "dealt this merger 'hand' to play" or else you'd be relying on these additionally income streams you like to tout in order to feed your family. Enjoy your victory. I bet one year from now y'all back east are going to be throwing another temper tantrum when your house of cards comes crashing down. Enjoy those assessments. You might want to come up with another income stream or two to help pay for your Lorenzo attorney.

767jetz,
Go ahead take a jab, nobody cares what the greedy United pilots think. Hey good luck to you -- your ALPA union dues just went up to make up for the yearly 12 million dues that were just voted out the door. C-ya.

Later,
Eye

and so did yours. Now the 12 million in dues is going to be shouldered by 3500 east pilots. I'm guessing you won't get more than 5% of the west to pay a dime. Good luck with that...

I appreciate your kind thoughts and concerns sir. I could quit right now and never fear starvation, nor deprivation....Ummm..Your "point"? Given your perspective?..that seems unlikely in your case..... No matter. I've not been "in this" for personal gain, but rather, for matters of actual principles. I'd like to see pilots regain some respect in general....if at all possible these days....period.

PS: I truly do advocate for any/ALL flying for "a living" to seek out alternative means of financial survival, and let those enhance your actual "lives". Being held hostage to the likes of the common corporate swine that infest America today's a fool's errand in extremis. Briefly examine our own "leadership" = "Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life" ;) Make other plans..and, in a few years hopefully...NEVER then be dependant upon such utterly PATHETIC morons for your sustanence...EVER ;) News flash = being in love with flying doesn't make anyone an incapable idiot, as per making money/running a business/etc...so..don't limit yourselves.

Congratulations on your victory. However, like 767Jetz and Barberpole, I still question how this will all turn out in the medium to long term.

"I still question how this will all turn out in the medium to long term." You've succinctly defined the "human condition". Let's do the best that we can with the circumstances.

At least, unlike the two you mentioned, you did not threaten and pass judgement before giving this a chance. This could turn out to be the BEST thing to happen to ALL our pilots in the short, medium and long term!

Its DONE! Now, lets get on with making this an airline to be admired!

Who wants to estimate when the first legal filing is made? I say 3-4 weeks from now we will see something on a docket somewhere.

hp_fa,
Nothing good comes from a "land grab." Think about would happen if the Nicolau list were implemented? It would be war. It is unconscionable to have pilots with several years of service bump those with decades of service -- point blank it's morally and ethically wrong. The East pilots were just protecting the flying they had before the merger. It's all about fairness and I think the West pilots will see that with time.

Later,
Eye

That long? That means it'll be 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 weeks before they're thrown out and we can get on with business. I'd be surprised if something isn't filed by Monday.

My understanding is that you are/were the west "Alpa Communications Chairman"...and you don't know? File away..start whatever "All-out-Warfare" that suits you...or..otherwise..how about growing up a notch or two?

Hey Eye, I agree with your statement: "Nothing good comes from a land grab." But I am pretty sure you and I are talking about different groups.

Just wanted to thank the leadership throughout the AWA ALPA organization. You guys did a real good job of navigating these treacherous waters. Enjoy a break from the hard work and welcome back to the line. First cold beverage when I run into any of you out there is on me!

A most decent thought. Zero sarcasm..this has been trying for all concerned.

If you truly end up with a DOH integration and are able to steal the jobs and job security the West brought, then you can claim victory and break out the champaign.
What if USAPA ends up with DOH integration and sets up "conditions and restrictions" so that the west, as well as the east, pilots are completely protected? Will you then publicly retract all the scurrilous comments you have made about east pilots and apologize to all the US pilots for attempting to be divisive and sabotage any kind of solution?

I certainly hope the west pilots and any lawyers they want can craft "conditions and restrictions" with which they feel comfortable. I also hope they consult with east pilots because many of them have a lot of first hand experience in that area.

and, I doubt anyone can claim victory until most of the pilots, east and west, are pulling together.
