See. Thats your problem. You don't see this job as one of passion. I grew up wanting nothing more than to do what I'm doing today. Sure I can't go buy a new Cadillac with my first paycheck. But I can enjoy more time at home with my family and friends more with this job than any as compared to my friends who pursued other endevours. We need help in restoring what it was we all signed up for in the first place.
I love nothing more than the exhilaration of landing a large craft with hundreds of people hoping I know what I'm doing behind me.
I still love this job. My younger brother was bitten by a similar bug and I have done everything to reassure him that this is the place to be.
I applaud your sentiments, and envy your enthusiasm for the job overall. For me? = It's nowadays nothing more or less than being priveleged to fly with some truly great crew people, the satisfaction of helping others get around to where they want/need to be...and the view out the office window. Its been a long time..ummm...well...truthfully never, when I felt any exhilaration from landing/flying any airliner, and find such to be more emotionally akin to simply driving/parking a car. Our ideas as to what makes for passion aloft are quite different..no harm there.
I would, however, appreciate it if you'll be so kind as to withold any in depth evaluation as to "my problem" for about thirty years or so..as I've been training in, or flying one dang thing or another since...umm..scratches old grey head...1966, starting in gliders, and our perspectives likely differ
