Aircraft maint issues

You know your union is only as good as the officers are, how much control do you have over the IAM, do you have enough political clout at American to get some of the top officer slots, or at least in your local, or have some of your guys become trustees of your local ?
We have no control over anything with the Association. They only listen when it hits them in the financial pockets. Perhaps a card drive is in order? Oh no way. We don't want to wake up the sleeping giants of the Association.

Hey whatever gets you guys moving, I say go for it, you made more money than!

This should be put in add form in every city newspaper that AA services.
On another note, in the add it talks about the lack of oversight the FAA has on foreign repair stations. I guess since the FAA inspectors limited access to the foreign repair stations they have a bit of extra time on their hands. We had a meeting yesterday on ways to improve & simplify our long term storage of our
serviceable & unserviceable engines, why do you ask? The FAA has been opening the engine covers & sealed areas of the engines to make sure the correct amount of dessicant is installed, are you f-----g kidding me? Are going to tell me that having 50lbs instead of the required 60lbs of dessicant in an engine is a major problem? This is just one example of the micro managing inspections the FAA is doing to justify their jobs. I have seen the FAA in my work area more in the last five years then in my first 25 years combined.
I welcome the FAA because I know we do a great job of maintenance on our aircraft, but what is "good for the goose is not always good for the gander". Are the FAA inspections we receive the same that foreign repair stations receive? The additional costs of over zealous inspectors goes directly to the negotiation table for all M&R employee costs.

Something needs to be in order. The non-IAM at DFW spoke volumes. It's time to make a move and open their eyes big time.

Thats a good letter by Samuelson, I wonder, was there ever a letter like that sent to Obama during the last 8 years?

Decent letter, I suppose. However I tried to speak with him at the protest. He was having none of it. I never saw or heard him rally the troops the entire day. My impression of him in person, not good. I was not impressed at all.

Sounds like he was there for window dressing only, that is sad, you guys need to realize the political power you have as members and make the changes in your leadership!

Maybe at the picket he got an earfull and realized what is happening to our profession and work. Sometimes one has to be educated a bit to push them to see the real story. I'm glad he did what he did. Will it achieve any results? Time will tell.

I saw a video of him on FB with a bullhorn. It was short and sweet honestly.

I think he left it to the guys who organized it mostly on purpose. BP of Local 513 was the heavy hitter of the day. (The guy in the second part of the TWU video with Doug Parker)

i volunteered as a picket captain and was there all day, 1000-1800. Guess I must have missed him and the bullhorn. There were a lot of folks there. Still, when I attempted to engage him and bend his ear, he just smiled and kept right on walking. I just did not get a good vibe from him Weez, jmho

WOW you have to be very stupid if you think sending a letter to Trump will make him do something. Trump runs his companies the same way as American Airlines. Stop looking for someone else to do what we ALL need to do. Grow some BALLS and just DO YOUR JOB.

How will larger balls help us solve the problem of offshoring aircraft maintenance?
