Aircraft maint issues

Are you all for real?

The wing is almost 13 feet above the ground. Show me what airport has lights and signage that tall?

Think people, Google is your friend.

The airplane had a 45 degree roll to the left on takeoff, the wing scrapped the runway.

Wow two of you are mechanics?
Must have been a hell of a cross wind to roll 45° on take off! A runway approach light, I could believe, a runway sign , I highly doubt it.

Hmm, I don’t see any mainline pilots flying all those RJs.
I was being sarcastic. When we see mx screwups, we immediately look to see if it was outsourced work.
So a pilot MAY have screwed up...…..can't blame outsourcing...………...Sarcasm!

Correct sir. Which confirms my question on how "TALL" that sign was. No sign is that tall on the side of the runways. Plane yawed enough to strike.

I wouldn't go as far to say 45*, there was definately a roll component causing a wing strike. What caused it is for the investigation to determine.

Speaking of outsourcing a buddy told me had a 737-700 come out of Florida, contract maintenance deferred the fuel quantity, and deactivated the wrong bussing plug on the opposite side. Not good for that A&P, be careful guys. I won't say the tail number, or the station it came out of. It's wasn't a SWA mechanic.

That's fantastic news. 500 AMT's this year alone? That's about 50-60 AMT's per month. Very nice. Just love hearing of growth and hiring AMT's.
Kev, does Delta still do the "hire the mechanic fresh out of A&P school"? Train after they get them and help with paying off student loans for a 5-6 year commitment? I do remember them doing this back in the 80's and 90's.

I'm honestly not sure. There are apprenticeship programs and leadership development type-things, but I don't know that there's a program like what you've described.

The wing scrapped the runway, look at the video.

Wow. The sign wasnt 13 feet tall, it was a normal sign and lights like on every runway, why is that hard to understand?
That was my point in the first place. I never said it was 13 ft tall.

To me something dose not add up with what the association is saying. They say there will be job losses after the contract but AA is hiring off the street for the first time in ages. Plus transfers galore. So either the ass is lying. Are they will sign with a early out . And AA will take advantage with 8 year progression with new mechanics

Cone would you take an early out if they came up, with like 1 year salary to leave?

Be clear about it, the alleged elimination of jobs would be through attrition. The ASSociation makes it sound like thousands of layoff notices will be handed out upon date of signing.

It's basically about collecting dues, not if you guys can be the best paid. Wanting to hold postions that would be attritioned out, makes for less lucrative contracts.
