Aircraft maint issues

Fleet never had the problem of being outvoted by a single large voting block where their issues trumped the line’s issues. So even though fleet has issues of jobs lost, at least you never had to fight each other as a work group.

Small cities always had to fight Hubs because of that roll call vote. I happen to know for a fact in the past that many small city Presidents stopped going to Negotiations because any time they tried to stand up for their people the bullies would go “Roll Call”

And as far as what TUL did to you guys they couldn’t do it all by themselves. They had the help of Particular Line President’s supporting them.

As far as your snide comment regarding mechanics, we look at the whole package even though your group is overpaid considering the value of your job. (sorry if this remark is uncalled for, but you like to insult mechanics at every turn)

I think “YOU” would read the entire deal before making that vote but overall your Group is no different than mine. Just look at Matty there. Right to the money page. I think the majority of people are no different. “SHOW ME THE MONEY”

As far as being overpaid (Or ridiculously well paid) considering the value of my job. Sure that can absolutely be debated.

Now I REALLY am waiting to read some fantastic conversations and debate on the internals of that posted deal? In the past their were posters here on Forums that would/could have those conversations.

I’m honestly just not sure there’s anyone left here who can any longer? (I’m sorry to write that)

i was only responding sarcastically in kind to your comment.

The reason they allowed 3 to sunset, is so that Dan explained to me, we have some bargaining power once we ratify, come next contract, because we weren't going to give the company carde Blanche on international outsourcing, without restrictions. That's why we kicked the Teamsters out, but I was butt hurt on that for a long time.

Nothing sunsets. The language is nothing more than smoke.

You can talk about anything you want in Negotiations. You don’t need to have it ridiculously written out to make yourselves feel good that honestly you did sell out your Class and Craft here in the USA for some more coin.

Nobody pitted Line vs OH except absolute pure simple greed.

TUL did not want to give NYC more at the cost of their own comforts. Period.
wasnt just TUL who voted against GEO pay. it was also MIA and ORD. But the TUL issues went way deeper than GEO pay.
i actually hoped the TWU could convince those stations to reason. No dice!

Metal I don’t know you personally but I don’t have anything but respect for you because you’re rarely anything but completely civil towards me.

You’re not a part of that elitist mentality that I consider to be an insecurity and a weakness in people. (Plenty of elitists in Fleet too BTW)

The TWU at that time had to be someone in a Leadership position to ask them to do the right thing. Do you know who if any might have tried to do just that?

But that very situation itself proved that it’s the Locals themselves who make most of the decisions.

It is work that wasn’t ours to begin with. Why should I accept less so that some MRO mechanic in the US can work on our plane? The work will get done somewhere (not by our guys), what do I care if they’re here or there? Once the plane comes back to the US it’ll sit for a few days, and I can make even more on OT fixing it.

Trash talk AMFA all you want, if the TWU got this agreement- or the ‘association’ you’d be screaming from the hills what a great deal it was.

I have no control over lines we don't do. If they can save money, and pay us what we deserve. Face it Weasel we are just like UPS, not a whole lot of mechanics, less than half of us, and paid more than us. Everyone was saying what a great job the Teamsters did. So AMFA did what they had to do, to maintain our group, plus we will grow it some, and hire some more guys. Your Association could get you better pay and benefits, just letting jobs go through attrition, and agree to what ratio of people to aircraft.

Thank you. sometimes sarcasm helps a good discussion break the ice

I was hoping after your little melee over there you might have brought some work in house rather than pushing it even further away. I just think it’s hypocrisy that the only way you were able to squeeze a few bucks more out of Management was to find an even cheaper alternative to Maintenance outsourcing that you could suck the blood out of.

All you guys did was sell out your own USA Class and Craft coming out of the very same trade schools that you guys went to.

I wonder how many USA AMT’s you guys are sending to the unemployment line?

We know. He has no clue. Don't waste your time with him. He's just so butt hurt that our agreement is way better than he was hoping. LOL

Just starting to hit the news media. Here's AMFA National release...

Press Release: AMFA and Southwest Airlines Reach Tentative Agreement For Aircraft Maintenance Technicians
April 3, 2019 – After almost seven years of negotiations, the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) and Southwest Airlines (SWA) announced a tentative agreement (TA) on a proposed contract for the airline’s Aircraft Maintenance Technicians. The TA includes significant pay increases, headcount protections, and job protection provisions.

It’s great that you were hoping, but it’s not anything you’ll have to live under. I’m just fine with it. It’s work that wasn’t ours and wasn’t going to be ours. Downplay it all you want- meanwhile your own company is doing the exact same thing by building hangars and even employing people in Brazil to do the same thing. It’s a global economy - what do I owe the non union hack at AAR to make sure he’s employed? I’m doing what I have to do for my family, and what me and my coworkers feel is in OUR best interest. As far as unemployment lines? If there’s no capacity at stateside MROs, which is why southwest said they wanted the ability to outsource internationally- then I fail to see how mechanics would lose their jobs at the MROs.
Go ahead, spin spin away with your boy rich about how evil amfa is. It’s tired and played out, and no one is listening anymore.
