Aircraft maint issues

3.3 Amt’s to aircraft ratio is about right now. The sickening thing is SWA can go as low as 2.75. Even that number is deceiving because that includes all of tech ops from what I understand. This was ratified as loa 1 back in 2009. Where I work we are so understaffed it’s pitiful.

Look out Swampy better call Megatron. I guarantee if AMFA files a lawsuit on ETOPS SWA will file a lawsuit on AMFA for the spike in outservice aircraft. My ALR came to our station today with management to say don't do anything illegal, second time we have seen him this week.

Why do you think AMFA and AMP ever came to be? The A&P Mechanics want out, but the rest of the AMT's are not aircraft mechanics

Of course “partially” those two entities never came into being at AA because you have “And Related” groups who have absolutely zero interest in being in a Union that essentially advertises itself as a primarily AMT supporting Union. So that’s “part” of it. TUL also never showed much interest either.

And AMP never got off the drawing board on either occasion. But I suspect how quickly it was abandoned the first time has much to do with why no one showed it any interest this time.

Why in the past has the TWU International shown up to destroy the Card Drives?

Is this really a serious question? Why in the World would you think the TWU (Or any Union for that matter) would not defend their turf?

If someone tried to break into your House would you just let them in? Or?

Buck it has EVERYTHING to do with AA A&P Mechanics now because ALL of those people are today also AA A&P Mechanics.

You can’t (Even though you want to) separate all these people out and cherry pick your own team.

There are 12,450 Mechanics (All in) at American Airlines. And that’s the Team you belong to.

An Association no, an Industrial union like the Teamsters, yes.

I would absolutely expect that if the TWU (People) launched a Card Drive against AMFA (People) wherever AMFA (Or anyone else for that matter) already held Representation that there would/should be one hell of a good battle.

Did you ever really think it would have been easy peasy?

If SWA had gone bankrupt, AMFA wouldn't have any better contract than the TWU. Where TWU or Teamsters, or IAM could win, is the time it takes to negotiate a contract vs AMFA with a healthy company that constantly makes money.
 
So I have something I think all of you can get a kick out of. The IAM steward at SFO said he was told by an IAM rep to prepare for a STRIKE. When he told me that I laughed and I laughed and I laughed.

I will never strike for this or any union. You can do more damage going to work and parking aircraft by doing your job. Ask some old timers at US Airways how the strike helped them. They had some fellow workers cross the picket line. When the strike was over those who crossed kept their jobs. The IAM is the only union to have retro give back!
