So I have something I think all of you can get a kick out of. The IAM steward at SFO said he was told by an IAM rep to prepare for a STRIKE. When he told me that I laughed and I laughed and I laughed.
I will never strike for this or any union. You can do more damage going to work and parking aircraft by doing your job. Ask some old timers at US Airways how the strike helped them. They had some fellow workers cross the picket line. When the strike was over those who crossed kept their jobs. The IAM is the only union to have retro give back!
AA would love for the union to strike them. The gov will not allow it to happen. So I have something I think all of you can get a kick out of. The IAM steward at SFO said he was told by an IAM rep to prepare for a STRIKE. When he told me that I laughed and I laughed and I laughed.
So you would scab?
Our ALRs said we will not take for a Strike vote, ever. Too scared of a Northwest disaster. Plus no one wants to risk over $100k a year, as a mechanic. You don’t know, are you MS Cleo? No one knows what the NMB will do. Unlike your union that didt have the guts to ask to be released nor did you take a strike vote. So where in the lawsuit?
Your leader’s words:
Bret Oestreich, national director of the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association, or AMFA, sent out a statement today saying the union will file for a cease and desist order that will “stop Southwest dead in its tracks” in regard to the Hawaii flights.

What would i be scabbing? An association that was imposed without a vote, with an associate that has offered little to no support for us. Until of course your benefits are threatened. Then your all in as long as no effort is exerted. Please inform us what the iam has planned? So you would scab?
SWA, beats AMFA to the lawsuit they just filled a lawsuit against AMFA and their officers for illegal job action, on all the out of service aircraft . This should make for interesting negotiations next month. You don’t know, are you MS Cleo? No one knows what the NMB will do. Bull crap, we struck US for five days, only scabs we had was a few stock clerks and a few GSE.

Hey we would have the same union as our F/AS and Ramp. At least we wouldn't be isolated. I believe AMFA has met it's match with SWA. The sad thing is when this all started we could have done an extension. I know this AMFA doesn't have enough dues money to cover the economic damage we have cost SWA in these cancelled and delayed flights. But even when we had Herb, if you were outside the box like when SWA bought Morris Air, you were lucky you got what you got.Be the first to sign up!View attachment 14033
The only mechanics strike SWA had was the IAM, lasted a week in 1980. Different world then.Section 6 negotiations started in 1989 and we struck for five days in October of 1992, we called it Red October.

We are our on worst enemy. The problem is you do your normal checks, and at normal times, you don't worry about that worn flap seal. Now that things are going South, some people are writing up everything, and the company unfortunately can prove it. They might be legitimate write ups. A hydraulic leak, is a hydraulic leak. It gets expensive to defend lawsuits. If you can't successfully negotiate a contract what good are you as a union? I would hate to see where we would be if SWA went bankrupt like American did. SWA profited highly after Sept 11th. Especially when US air abandoned their lost cost Metrojet operation and scaled back BWI.I read a Bloomberg article that swa said that the mechanics were taking planes out of service for a tray table. Now that is funny. This is the first time I have ever heard of a plane being grounded for a tray table. Sounds more like the company is making up stories and using you as there company mouthpiece. I have yet to here anyone including you or swa say that these were not legitimate write ups. If these were not legitimate write ups management would have put the planes back in service.

When was that?
Oh no dfw gen and Rogallo, it's ok that the IAM scabbed at Northwest when AMFA striked, but now he wants to call out all the scabs. C'mon newbie you can't have it both ways. And yes, AMFA does have the names of those who scabbed. The teamster truck drivers were the ONLY ones who would NOT cross the AMFA picket line, period. IAM, TWU, and other unions scabbed across the picket line. And here you are asking if someone would scab. C'mon man...Crossing a picket line of your own union and performing struck work makes the individual a Scab, not the union. And I guess you need to ask your question to Sito.
