Again we are in the era of trump and the MAGA trump supporter, trump says that going bankrupt is a business tool not a failure.

Trump couldn’t bully his way into nfl he uses bully pulpit to attack nfl

Trump doesn’t like coverage of Washington post, trump threatens Amazon with taxes using presidential power
Etc etc .........

Carl Icahn a trump adviser sold $30m in stock of a company depending on steel 30 days before steel tariffs announced. That means someone bought $30m in stock.

Who thinks that people with this type of wealth and lack of integrity will look and say that’s not right that AA is maintaining some aircraft in South America. Or will they attack aa or unions to enhance their stock portfolio.

I don’t think we get sympathy with being offered $55 an hour with insurance. We will be attacked as greedy unions.

I write this because our MAGA supporters at ORD think that trump will use his power to get a contract done. Of course I mentioned he couldn’t even help coal miners.

Of course you are wrong about the coal industry, therefore I won’t waste my time looking up any of your other claims. As you can see the coal industry has made a 180 degree turn from the previous administration.

You are an obvious low informed voter, everything you post now will be viewed with skepticism. I bet you were one of those 2010 vote NO know nothings that cost us all $70k in cash.

Send them back to negotiations and we will get what we want!!!!! 9 years later and nothing.

Developments like this may not resonate with Pilots until we contextualize the situation. Today, Southwest Airlines outsources 80 percent of all aircraft maintenance. You read that correctly - 80 cents of every dollar we spend on maintaining and repairing our aircraft is outsourced. So how does our outsourcing compare to that of our competition? Compared to Southwest Airlines' 80 percent outsourcing rate, United outsources 51 percent of its aircraft maintenance, Alaska outsources 49 percent, Delta outsources 43 percent, and American outsources only 33 percent. Spirit and Allegiant outsource approximately 20 percent, but their numbers may be skewed due to the fact that they lease most of their aircraft. And, all this is accomplished on top of already having the lowest mechanic to aircraft ratio in the industry. Southwest Airlines maintains a 3.3 AMT to aircraft ratio. UAL, AA, and DL maintain a 12.0, 11.2, and 7.2 AMT to aircraft ratio, respectively. The next closest to SWA is Alaska who still maintains a 4.3 ratio (due to Alaska's Line Mx Only- Mx program).

AA's outsourcing percentage is on the SPEND. Ambiguous at best. Increase the spend, increase the outsourcing. It is much harder to pinpoint exactly what is being outsourced using this language.
Needless to say, AA wants outsourcing which is more reflective of the industry. And, as we all know, it is not just aircraft maintenance outsourcing.
It includes facilities/plant maintenance, fleet service and even more maintenance work.
Personally, it might make us all feel warm and fuzzy listening to Samuelson do his Quill impersonation. At the end of the day, I believe, the company will get more of what it wants than what the union will.
One way or another.

By the way, LUS outsourcing is way up there as well. LUS still uses a definitive percentage compared to LAA using the spend formula.

Just amazed and disappointed at those outsourcing percentages.

Yes, not good. I have watched the entire industry get decimated in this area. This is the industry trend that will not be reversed. No matter how much resistance the union puts up.

I’m not going to forecast where the final agreements will end up? I’ll just say that I’m not comfortable with some of the language the Company has been asking for in my group and I just couldn’t support or vote for it.

A trend means something that continues. Some of those percentages are nuts and just can’t keep on continuing. You guys really “should” not support the decimation any longer now that economically it’s not needed by the Industry.

50 to 80% outsourcing? Seriously?

I know Vort hates Socialism but cutthroat Capitalism isn’t the solution either. You have to find the balance.

Sadly the trend will continue. Until it is proven that outsourcing is causing planes to fall out of the sky, the argument is a futile one. just my opinion.
Hell, the mighty Amazon is outsourcing their entire air operations.
I am not saying I support what the company wants. My gut feeling is that the company will get most of what they want...One way or another.

Samuelsen, for all his good intentions, has never dealt with the Railway Labor Act. He is able to shut the city of NY down way easier thane can shut an airline down.
Anyone, including him, who believes it is a fool.

He’s absolutely not looking to shut down the Airline. The guy is actually smarter than you might think. He’s been in this game for awhile now. And City, State or Private it’s all still part of the same game.

And if the trend does continue I guess people are going to have to get used to making half what they do today? Both Ramp and AMT’s.
