Aircraft maint issues

Really? What statement?? Can you post it please??? I got nothing, only another letter from L.W. about the Operational emergency, please share...
BTW why aren't you writing this in the SWA threads???
It's on the SWA page read it. The guy they have in management , has been down this road with AMFA. The ex Northwest guys on my crew have been down this road. This is no game, and we need to be careful what we do. You claim we won't make the same mistakes. We have invited the government into our work situation. There are both sides to rules in negotiations and mediation. I was having a conversation with Weazz. The SWA page when I post something Good or bad I get red marks, and not serious conversations. But I must admit you have been a lot better.

This is how the Airline is framing the issue.

“AMFA has a history of work disruptions, and Southwest has two pending lawsuits against the union. We will be investigating this current disruption and exploring all possible remedies,” Chief Operating Officer Mike Van de Ven said in a statement.

The union was quick with a response.

"Southwest Airlines scapegoating of its expert aircraft maintenance technicians does not bode well for the airline’s safe operations,'' Bret Oestreich, national director of AMFA, said in a statement. "Safety is, and always will be, our number one priority.''

Just because we are represented by AMFA is why you compare the NWA fiasco.
Let me ask you this, If these are all legit write-ups, then what driver?
If they are not legit write-ups then people will be talked to, written up, and if, God forbid, this is some kind of job action as the co is implying at this point, then the co may take action up to and including termination.
Don't forget, the first article out today also said this was a combination of weather, Pilot and maint write ups.
Another article this morning also said 1,000's of flights were cancelled yesterday directly tied to the weather by all the airlines.
I have no clue how many are tied to each pacific category, but it is a rather large combination of all of them.
The co. will do their investigation and if they find legit write-ups, they will move on, if they find evidence of some sort of movement then they will address those individuals accordingly.
Instead of jumping to "Northwest fiasco all over again" why don't we all just relax and wait for the final findings of everything. A broke aircraft is a broke aircraft.
What are all the write-ups? I would be curious to what they are. So far in Dallas we are being told Pilots are writing most up.

Where I am at lightning strikes, pilot write ups, and inspection write ups on task card. Let's remember we control this union and our destiny.

SWA COO just put out a statement of AMFA a handful of mechanics grounding aircraft in 4 of our 20 maintenance stations, and now the emergency has spread to Dallas, and mentioned the history of AMFA and their disruptions. This started right after our Feb 12th mediation meeting. So regardless of Swampy saying compliance, SWA considers this a job action, and I am sure an injunction will be filed against AMFA in federal court. Like I said Weazz I hope AMFA has deep pockets. Tell me Weazz what did the American Airlines pilots sick out over the Reno Air situation cost the pilots group?

If SW believes this to be merely a job action then why doesn’t their certificated management personnel simply sign the discrepancy?

This is typical union negotiating tactics, when you're trying to move the football. The secret is don't push to far, and get a Federal injunction.

A&P Mechanics follow Aircraft Maintenance Manuals. However companies like American have maintenance programs endorsed by the FAA.

A lot of common sense which means deviation a lot of time by a Standard Practice. This is normally part of that which the FAA endorses.
Guys like me that have the hardest job in major airline aviation maintenance deal with this daily.

The Union Reps are only mentioning losing the ability to move up and gain better shifts and seniority because they know if they say what it’s really about the IGM crowd will scream bloody murder.

What it’s about is saving good jobs for the future. These Unions have been around since the late 1800’s and early 1930’s.

The IAM organized US AMT’s in 1949 and
The TWU organized AA AMT’s in 1947

If Negotiators back then had out of the gate sold out the future for Gold coins, by the time your year came to hire in there probably wouldn’t be a job available for you at the Airline and those Unions would be out of Business at the new AA.

Good paying JOBS is what a Union is all about. Unions are NOT supposed to sell out the future to satisfy the greed of the present.

Sounds like protecting dues, and high paying jobs at Tulsa and AFW, and ok paying jobs for Florida and Midwest and working poor jobs for east and west coasts and was the TEUs main duty, our UNIONS answer for the line mech, if you don’t like it move to Tulsa.

Seems like the majority of the OH mechs were less concerned with members system wide, but with their own wallet. GEO pay shift differential be damned. That doesn’t effect our brothers in OK or TX.

But I get your point, my union experience has not been positive in the least. 16 years of concessions is enough. But the theory of unions is solid just not the application of it towards us.

bigjets I learned a long time ago that if you look too long in your rear view mirror you’re likely to smack your car into a tree.

But I also get YOUR point. But maybe it’s time to look and drive forward?

It all comes to the point at American and SWA when have our bargaining agents hit a wall with management, and we are going to get what we can get. We can all yell and scream , it doesn't change the outcome.

Hellooooo!
Lightning strikes--- legit write up--right?
Pilot write ups--- legit write ups right?
inspection write ups--- legit write ups-- right? From a task card that directs him to do so, right?
Where's the job action driver C'mon you are not making sence.

And then you write that it's typical union tactics when trying to move a football. ??? Really? C'mon man. You really are looking bad here driver, just stop and wait and see.
Are you really suggesting that this is a job action of some sort??? If so, say so, if not then shut up and let the investigations span out. Wow. You sure your not company. Holy crap man. I bet you throw your men under the bus every chance you get at the flip of a switch huh???

Are you ready to give up driver? It sure sounds like it. Weak. lower your head and cave.
Just kidding, wanted to push your buttons a bit there.
Really dude just wait until the next nego's in March. Not saying anything will be done in March, but with the latest news maybe something will change. Ride the wave.
