Aircraft maint issues

Conehead, 1AA, Buck, and other interested parties; We do have a T/A at SWA. No numbers have changed from the April offer and we are short somewhere in the area of 8-10% overall. But co. refused to move any further until after a vote was conducted with current offer. We will see how that goes. I will tell you we have a lot of fence sitters since the co. did not offer a raise in 2018, and 2023 as well as missing the snap up at about 3.2%. The rest sounds pretty good and well. But we will still wait for the RS's to verify everything. Here's an update off the AMFA website:

Press Release: AMFA and Southwest Airlines Reach Tentative Agreement for Aircraft Maintenance Technicians
June 27, 2018 -- After almost six years of negotiations, the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) and Southwest Airlines (SWA) announced a tentative agreement (TA) on a proposed contract for the airline’s Aircraft Maintenance Technicians.

The problem is, you have gone six years without a raise, and with no loss in scope, plus a nice bonus, most people will not worry about 3 % This has taken so long, that people know there will be no quick solution. The problem with AMFA argument you will lose out on future earnings, if you go section 6 everytime, and then mediation you will lose out on future earnings anyway. The company is not going to suddenly give you everything you want. If you look at social media, most of the complainers wanting a no vote, are the same people. Most who will vote yes, just don't say anything, because it's not worth the argument.

Who knows? Most of your guys on here don’t give 2 chits about any jobs being lost anyway. They say it all the time. “We lose the jobs anyway”

F it I say. The jobs are through attrition anyway. Let’s just get ours and screw the people wanting to come in behind us.

IGM.......
WeAAs, I have been here for many a contract. Can't tell you how many times we were told by the union, "IF YOU VOTE NO, WE WILL LOSE JOBS" or "VOTE YES TO SAVE JOBS" contract after contract. And guess where most JOBS were???????? TUL!!!!!
Guess what, we are at a little better than half the numbers we had at the height. Tulsa has been gutted, MCI closed. AFW closed. Remember cabin service?
We all did the good union boys and girls thing and voted to save jobs.
Not falling for that ever again.

And as far as the IGM syndrome, Are the rest of us who put in 20, 30, 40, 50 plus years having endured both the best and worst times in airline history expected to worry about someone not even old enough to work yet? Should we not expect something substantial for ourselves? IT'S CALLED PAYING ONES DUES!
Hopefully the next generation will stay away from the airline business because as history as proven, the screwing NEVER stops!

That's like the poor Northwest mechanics that walked were replaced. Then the other Unions didn't honor their strike line, and kept right on working. There is no loyalty, because you just get screwed.

Well I’m not going to count what we were “forced” to vote for in Bankruptcy even though some people want to live in Fantasyland that we should have held firm and all there other typical repeated blah blah blah.

I think it’s mostly you guys in M&R that they want to take more work away from so that’s your choice if even though the Company is now earning Billions you don’t care and are just thinking enough is enough? Give me my money.

I said my peace yesterday and today I’m climbing back down from the ledge. But no I don’t think there’s anything wrong at all with having some of the IGM mentality. Just don’t think you should completely look to scorch the Earth behind you.

And no the next generation shouldn’t and won’t avoid the Airline industry. Just like life itself they need to play it all smart is all.

Um your raises are 14.8% for April 1, 2018. How in the world is that guy saying that you’re not getting a raise in 2018? Huh?

And your Contract is amendable on April 1 2023 with a one year early opener. Of course you’re not going to be given an announced increase prior to that percentage being negotiated.

You receive your last raise in 2022 going in to 2023.

That math shouldn’t be difficult to figure out?

Weez, you have no clue. Yes we have gone 6 years this coming Aug and with the 3% the co. says we are getting for full retro that would be 18% snap up not 14.8%. By asking for the amendable date to be changed they are skipping the Aug 2018 3% raise from the snap up, or at least honor it in Aug 2018. The raise missing on amendable date is also missing. Our current contract gave us a 1% on final year of last contract why are they proposing to take that away as well, we had it before.
In a review, we are given a snap up in 2018 to bring us where we should be as of April 1 2018, we are still missing the 3% raise for the year of 2018. You are simply falling for the co's propaganda that you are getting your raise in 2018. Sure we are being brought up where we should be but that is not a raise for the year 2018 as well as in 2023 and with these record upon record quarters and years there should be no reason not to expect them in each of all the years just like years past. The membership just wants to be made whole, not asking for the impossible, just reasonable. Simple math. We gave them their 5 years they wanted with no raises, now it's time to repay us whole.

You are not missing anything since the only thing you are entitled to is what is negotiated and agreed on. Not what is in your mind that you think you are owed.

And I had to place paragraphs in your posting to be able to read it. Can you please begin to practice the art if you really want people to consider what you write?

I used to play Twister too when I was a kid. Naked Twister with Sandra Campbell at 15 was really fun.

Don’t like playing Twister with Men.
I was beginning to wonder, it's probably a little risky, playing games with a naked 15-year-old female in a society where younger men are charged like adults.

Is there an Early Out like United and AA if we ratified the company's offer?

Sandra is a Grandmother today Bro. That was a little while back there.

What he is not telling you Weazz the the base is 14.8 %.- The full snap up with license premium, longevity, shift differential is 16.7% . The pay raise for 2018 is retro back to April 1 st 2018. Also is the signing bonus money of 91 MILLION, to be divided among the employees. It also includes people who retired that were here during the last 5 years. If you got fired you won't get anything. This is what they negotiated, and ask for. AMFA math on missing out on future raises assumes you would get 3%, every year for the next 20 years. How can you project that when you take 6 years to negotiate a contract, and you want a no vote to go maybe 7 or 8 years, for a raise. So much for projected earnings. Don't worry Swampy we know you are probably a No vote.

Your an idiot, as usual. If you cannot understand my post, then why the hell do you respond? And, you are not a mechanic. Your just pathetic little fleet boy. It's ok though, you will get over it, maybe. You sound like one of them peeps that needs info spoon fed to you, well I got a spoon full for you Weez. And NO! I will not para for you to read better. Get a clue man...

Looking good. Keep up the good work guys.

No Buck. No early out is being proposed at this time. We did hear of some rumors early on, but, nothing at this time.

I can guarantee you that I am a NO vote if the numbers do not match what I am owed. I will hold for being made whole. I am not weak like you to cave to what the co. wants and get away with cheaply getting away with the 5 year pay freeze.
