Aircraft maint issues

You talk a good fight! But what is the union going to do about it! All your informational protesting did what? Nothing! The reason is the membership does not trust either unions. Now I hear the union lawyers are looking at the scope and economics. Eventually we here that this is the best we’re going to get vote YES!

It depends how you look at it, if it is from the AMT point of view, most prefer to stand alone. There are those who believe in Industrial Unionism, which would place everyone in the same category. Just recently some of the Stock Clerks were placced with the mechanics, because they get the mechanic his or her parts and Facilities/Autoimotive due to them maintaining the buildings and hangars. There is a faction of mechanics that would like to be with the pilots. I believe that it is a possibe that negotiations are being held up due to a decesion on monetary items and in my opinion, the non mechanics not able to get what they want. In the past a monetary decesion was unknown. But now Doug Parker has let it be known?? that the mechanic compensation will DL and UA plus 7% and then a little less at 3%. Robert Isom at ORD has stated that the mechanic is short approximately 5%-10%.

I hear ya. I was just saying that to me personally the way things were grouped-especially at NW- seemed odd.

What are YOU doing about it Matt? Its easy to gripe on here but what are WE doing collectively and individually to further our cause? Have you walked a picket? Do you work IAW as required by company policy? We all have a part to play in this.

Your right but it only works if people, work together, most people will not stick together. I really think we will both American and SWA see contracts this year. Will it make everyone happy, no, but they will both probably pass.

It is nice to know that every mechanic is working under the IAW policy.

Driver I hope you're right. However I have pretty much lost what little faith I had. The company is playing the same tired old games as always. Our dysfunctional illegitimate association is outgunned and overmatched at the table. I have no idea when a deal could be reached. Good luck at SWA.

All,

I’m not one to write long winded letters or make videos when I don’t have anything to report out so this is going to be short.

As soon as I get an email from the TWU International with a meeting date and time, I plan to send Jay Potter to DC. He will work with the Union attorneys and other team members to draft scope proposal language for the maintenance bases. If that gets accomplished prior to the executive committee meeting on Jan.8th with the company I would anticipate that we would finally present the company with the language.

This being my second term in office and my first time in contract negotiations I can only ask others how things were handled in the past. I believe that we will eventually get a joint contract, but taking 2.5 plus years to get there is not in the best interest of the members of Local 514. I’m committed to doing the best I can to represent all of you even though the structure of the current negotiations within the Association itself, makes it very difficult to do so.

Seems like 2017 was rough year with several lost loved ones. Enjoy the time you have with family and friends during this base closure. I know that some of us will not get the time off opportunity, and my fear is if we are not successful in negotiations it may be the last year for base closure.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Dale

Weez,
Don't you think our scope proposal should have been drafted already? Seems to me the NC is playing catch up. It seems as if they were completely unprepared going in.

Don’t know what to tell you buddy. Kinda backing off here some. Tired of the whiners, complainers, liars, cheaters, kooks, weirdos, flakes and morons on here. Just thought I’d give you that Dale update cause you’re cool.

But to be fair there has been a little back and forth on SCOPE if you remember. The intitial proposal from the Association and the proposal from the Company on Jetnet.

As Dale said basically he’s waiting on the call from the International to see what’s next and where they’re going. And obviously from Gary’s 2 updates yesterday and today no one thinks they should have to even wait till next year for this to get done. But?

(And you’re the only guy I’m responding to on this except MetalMover if he chimed in. The others aren’t worth more than some mocking Meme’s and YouTube’s IMO)

Handshake.

They came about after American President Robert Isom and APA President Dan Carey agreed to resolve the issues, during a Dec. 1 meeting called to discuss the temporary breakdown in the carrier’s holiday pilot scheduling procedure,

During that meeting, Isom and Carey shook hands, symbolizing their commitment to quickly reach settlements on the three outstanding issues, said APA spokesman Dennis Tajer.

“While we were talking about getting the December thing fixed, we agreed to go on an expedited schedule to resolve these matters,” Tajer said. “We got a good, fresh start.”

No doubt. Surely the union has a bottom line on every issue and reading between the lines it appears that the company proposal (now 4 months ago) was below that on LAA Scope and LUS medical insurance costs at least. No telling what else.
I can’t imagine it would be that difficult to pass a rebuttal back across the table if the union were prepared. They weren’t prepared and Dale’s letter pretty much admits that.

Were the Non-Mechanic and Related offered Delta/United +7% or +3%?

I’ll tell you what I do I follow the paperwork when working aircraft. I don’t bend and I don’t do the job if the company does not supply me the proper tooling. I work smarter not harder!!!!
