Aircraft maint issues

You need to re-read the post you just answered. What he is saying is there are way too many outsiders (fleet, stock clerks ect...) non aircraft mechanics that run the union and vote rather this asso. stays or goes. The mechanics are way outnumbered when it comes votes for a repretational election. They are trying Driver, they have been trying, they are just outnumbered by the other groups within the same union.
You're right no offence.

It did not help that nrb put us with a/c cleaners and facilities maintenance no disrespect to the other groups. Until you have a license and take legal responsibility for the passengers and airplane . Then you should not be listed with amts. But facilities maintenance really screwed us from getting AMFA .

Are you both really this dense?

the IAM didn't insource ****. They saved some of the stations they agreed to farm out and with a scope clause that has a sun set agreement. Oh and that sun set agreement is right about the time UGE should be fully up and running.

you need to get off your knees for 5 seconds.....

I am shocked (not) Tom is lying.

I don't think I ever called him 700. I did say he says acts and post like he was 700 and did the very same BS 700 did to a "T".

Yep and when I was at NWA with the IAM they used just that clause in the class and craft to keep AMFA out because the cleaners and GSE always had enough votes to keep AMFA at bay then the IAM cried like hell when they lost they wanted those groups back. I really didn't have a problem with the GSE and plant mtc guys and welders etc.. But I did have an issue with the cleaners being in our class and craft. But at the end of the day we really should have a separate class and craft just for A@P's just like other FAA certificated positions do. I won't live to see it tho. I only have about 10 more years and I am out of this industry hopefully for good.

Those Class/Craft Lines never made sense to me.

I always thought that the stock clerks and AMTs should’ve been together, with the ramp and fleet service paired up.

It depends how you look at it, if it is from the AMT point of view, most prefer to stand alone. There are those who believe in Industrial Unionism, which would place everyone in the same category. Just recently some of the Stock Clerks were placced with the mechanics, because they get the mechanic his or her parts and Facilities/Autoimotive due to them maintaining the buildings and hangars. There is a faction of mechanics that would like to be with the pilots. I believe that it is a possibe that negotiations are being held up due to a decesion on monetary items and in my opinion, the non mechanics not able to get what they want. In the past a monetary decesion was unknown. But now Doug Parker has let it be known?? that the mechanic compensation will DL and UA plus 7% and then a little less at 3%. Robert Isom at ORD has stated that the mechanic is short approximately 5%-10%.

Yes, I agree. The question is, will the asso. go after that 7-10% over D or U, or will they simply cave to what Parker yanked back to the 3%?
It's ok to have other groups being represented by the same union. What needs to happen if you guys cannot get rid of this asso. in the least, you guys should demand to be in separate contracts. Keep the mechanics all by themselves as well as the other groups. Example; When we went with AMFA we demanded that they get the cleaners their very own separate contract or they were not getting in at SWA. But, with all that said, I still think you guys would be much better off with a mechanic craft and class union. I just hope one day you all can make it happen while I am still around. Would have been great to have seen it while Dell was still in.
