Aircraft maint issues

It does. As I have told you, that is an amazingly stupid statistic to judge on. I'm more than happy to admit we have the lowest mechanic per tail number, AFAIK we always have.
We are within 3% of outsourcing (IIRC) and have 5-6 less people per tail.

Would you like for me to explain to you how those numbers also are a key reason why we are one of the largest MRO's in the world and the largest in North America? Or how management is actively looking to bring in work vs trying to rid themselves of over half of your "brothers"

I honestly hope the mechanics or any else doesn't have people like you doing the negations for them. If they do.... man are they screwed.

Read above. We are about 2-3% less than American the last time I looked, about 10 less than United and about 15% less than your beloved US air(pre-merger).
Should be closer this year with the amount of new engine work, airframe work and component work that came in house.

Nope. I remember Tampa and Dallas being shut down. It sucked. Do you have a point? I have moved on from it.

Yes Northwest did outsource most of its work pre-merger. Delta has brought a large part of that work back in-house. I had the pleasure of doing A320 c-checks for a little while. As legacy Northwest contracts expire Delta is bringing in even more of that work. Example, the A320 APUs came back in-house this year.

Unfortunately we do have some contractors working but that is actually getting better. Now that the seasonality of the airline's maintenance work has stabilized and they are finding things for us to do in the summer, contractor numbers are going down. Matter of fact I believe Delta is hiring mechanics and coneheads for the hangar floor right now.
Well that is good news Dawg. Love to hear when the jobs come back. Most non mechanics do not understand just how hard it is to get aircraft maint back in house. There is a lot more to it than just parking a bird and assigning aircraft mechanics to it. Glad to hear more maint is coming back in for you guys after the DFW fiasco. A very good friend of mine got all twisted up in the DFW fiasco. I remember it and lived it, it was horrible to say the least.

This has been explained to both these industrial union tripes. Don't waste your time with them, they are only here on a mission.
The mechanics in the industry know what is taking place thru-out the outsourcing industry and that's all that matters. You are also correct that he needs to stop playing the BK card and abrogated. In 2002 they were not in BK it was agreed to by the IAM as well as the TWU in 2003. Huge difference in how he is presenting the misrepresentation of the facts. Let them ramble on.

Hey you were late today?

Wease this is the lies, half truths and spins that I was talking about. USAir's o/sing is very close to swa. Within a few percentage points. Saying they only brought in 1 line of maintance. To keep harping on the amount of mechanics per a/c shows his stupidity. You can't compare apples and oranges. He has been told numerous times that you cannot compare an airline that has widebody a/c to one that doesn't. Also you can't compare an airline that has etops with one that doesn't. 700 I mean tom is nothing more than a common liar.
That's why I mostly just shrug him off as being very misinformed, or he's just here to do exactly that (like 700) and confuse and misinform.

You shrug me off? But you said you come here because of me. Make up your mind Swampy.

Wrong again.

US filed it’s first bankruptcy in August of 2002 and then again in September of 2004.

Stop with the #fake news.

We never agreed to any concessions outside of bankruptcy.

You are seriously misinformed and misguided.

BAM!!!! Home Run driver. No nonsense, no BS, no spin. Just facts. Nice.

When I first got to DFW in 1997 I thought about SWA for a second. Just seemed like I was better off not making the switch and if I ever wanted to go home to Queens (LGA) I was better off staying with AA.

Had I known AA was going to go through all the crap after 9/11 would I have made the switch? Hindsight is 20/20.

If I had made the switch I may not have came here to South Florida?
Good thing you didn't. You would never make the probationary period at SWA, not even close.

Yes they did. The contract before BK, was agreed to by the IAM. Nice try...

Swampy I LOVE having your attention and you showing up here every day JUST for me. It’s fun being someone’s obsession.

Boy am I in that head of yours. LMAO.

The IAM was in talks.

On the Sunday in 2002 they filed chapter 11, they walked into negotiations, threw down a final offer to the committee and said “we are filing bankruptcy, vote on this”.
