Aircraft maint issues

Wont happen. Because the motors are power buy the hour it is up to GE who does them. GE will do them or they will go to a GE approved maintenance center.

That is what the deal with Pratt and Rolls are for us. They make us a part of those OEM's maintenance network. So say Southwest orders something with Trent 1000's on it and signs a TotalCare agreement for maintenance. That would mean that Rolls will send the engine to one of its AMCs. Since TechOps is the closest (thus the cheapest more than likely) we would get the work.
but as far as all the contracts and such go, its all with Rolls Royce.

GE has been very very unwilling to make a deal with Delta as of late. The last two major orders, the A330/A550 and this order, have really come down to what the engine OEM was willing to offer. At some point GE is going to wise up or lose one of its biggest and long time customers. (and one of the most respected CFM shops in the world)

I buy American as well, most of the time.

but I am also not going to go without a TV because I can't get one made in the US......

Here’s a story.

I had a cable company once, Atlantic Broadband. I was having problems with them so I was considering going with ATT which would offer me way more programming and I’m sure better service as well.

The Customer Service Rep while talking to her informed me when I said I hated to go with ATT because of their outsourced call centers that all 250 of their employees worked here in the USA.

I did not leave Atlantic.

A friend of mine who is a CWA Organizer asked me why I wouldn’t go with ATT cause they have Union employees? I told her because as pro Union as I am I have to support small businesses and American jobs first.

She didn’t argue with me.

I don’t see where he’s lying. Giving a half truth maybe but so what. It’s absolutely no different then the other posters on here who give half truths and never want to comment that SWA has never not turned a profit in their entire existence.

Can’t read a book and know the story well if lots of the pages are torn out.

Some posters here seem to throw out the entire book and make up the story as they go along.

Your not a mechanic so you wouldn't know. He is a typical industrial unionist. He has no creditability on here with anyone that knows the facts and you making excuses for him doesn't say a lot for you either. I hope you put yourself in that category of telling half truths and throwing out the book.

To your first response. Again I never said that. You’re making up assumptions about me. Your mind is already made up. And I remember WT quite well.

I am one of those “Buy American” whenever at all possible guys. My Living Room Furniture was made in N Carolina.

But Brazilian Leather for shoes is extraordinary. Very soft.

Weez what is the foreign part content in that Ford Mustang of yours?

Your Union is scared of two things:

1. A repeat of NW.
2. Members voting in a bad contract.

Must be nice not earning more and your buying power being diminished as costs goes up and your wages aren’t even staying in line with cost of living.

And your wimpy IAM lost all their members (and dues) at NW after they gave the company exactly what they wanted without a fight. Farmed out mainline cities to Airlink/ZW and IAM still collected dues.

NW employees were always bitter and grouchy about the company.

So I have to be a Mechanic to know that SWA has never had a year in their history that they didn’t turn a profit? Or I need to be a Mechanic to understand that the more different Mechanical items a Company chooses to utilize the more complex their business becomes driving the need for more workers?

And if you have an ignorant need to label people to make yourself feel special you automatically lost all your arguments.

We have always ran lean, except in pilots and F/As. Different people when we weren't paid as much left for bigger airlines. I liked the company so I stayed and it worked out. We will never have the ratio of aircraft to mechanics that American, or United or Delta has, so why argue it? UPS doesn't have that many aircraft mechanics and will always make more than we do.

BAM!!!! Home Run driver. No nonsense, no BS, no spin. Just facts. Nice.

When I first got to DFW in 1997 I thought about SWA for a second. Just seemed like I was better off not making the switch and if I ever wanted to go home to Queens (LGA) I was better off staying with AA.

Had I known AA was going to go through all the crap after 9/11 would I have made the switch? Hindsight is 20/20.

If I had made the switch I may not have came here to South Florida?

Apparently the "new" AA does not believe in running lean. At least not in the AMT ranks at DWH.

So basically you’re saying there are both good and bad things about working for either Airline.

“The grass is always greener on the other side”

I totally forget we (Delta) didn't go into bankruptcy. I forget Southwest started doing all their maintenance in house.

Nice try with the cover up. One of these days you guys are going to have to stop beating that bankruptcy drum.

PS United has been taking cuts well outside of bankruptcy. Both the IAM (Ramp) and IBT have allowed more outsourcing. My bet is you guys at American do the same......

I grasp the piss poor point you are trying to make. I'm just telling you it is a piss poor point.
This has been explained to both these industrial union tripes. Don't waste your time with them, they are only here on a mission.
The mechanics in the industry know what is taking place thru-out the outsourcing industry and that's all that matters. You are also correct that he needs to stop playing the BK card and abrogated. In 2002 they were not in BK it was agreed to by the IAM as well as the TWU in 2003. Huge difference in how he is presenting the misrepresentation of the facts. Let them ramble on.
