Aircraft maint issues

DAWG,

Really?

AMFA has the highest amount of outsourcing at WN and AS farms out all heavy.

WN has under 3,000 mechanics for over 700 planes.

Great fight at AS, not.

AMFA has been at WN for around 15 years and only brought in one line in exchange for foreign outsourcing.
In the last 15 years how many lines of overhaul has the IAM allowed to be outsourced? How many new lines have the brought in? How about engines? components?

Again. In the post 9/11 world, AMFA and non-union have brought in the most of work.

Bankruptcy

Contract abrogated

Nice try.

Never agreed to it at US and we were successful from going from unlimited outsourcing of HMV to 50% of billible hours from 2005 to the JCBA in 2008.

Never did any engines except the JT8 and we lost the CFM Arbitration after the PSA merger.

1) I knew the rest of the story. As I said, you even bringing it up is a joke. It is even more of a joke when you are pissing and moaning about ACTUAL American employees doing aircraft maintenance. Fact is, your beloved industrial union screwed them. They did a **** job at United. The did a **** job at US air. The TWU has done a **** job at American and the only union that has actually had the balls to stand up to outsourcing, AMFA, your beloved **** unions got so butt hurt about AMFA not doing what the company wanted, they sold them out too. Fact of the matter is the only two airlines that have brought any meaningful amount of work in-house in the post 9/11 world is Southwest (AMFA) and Delta (non-union). United and American have done nothing but continue to send work out.

2) No I am just not economically stupid and I also actually work on the airplanes when they come back from a vendor vs company employees. That's not being rah rah company it is simply understanding how the business actually works.
Its a stupid hill to even walk up, much less try to die on.

If your union is worth a damn then they will keep track of the work done at the new hangar and will take the appropriate action if needed. Everything else you are talking about is just FUD.

exactly. Anyone who actually sees the work being done would be a fool to "not care". I'm one of the biggest scope hawks here.
Its not being a pro management person, its simply understanding that work is going to be done on the line out of the states and understanding that American (or Delta or United) employees are going to do better work than a vendor. TWU or no TWU.

but the no TWU is the real issue nothing WeAAsles. Not the other crap. If they were on the TWU list he wouldn't care about any of the other crap posted.

You’re not as intellectually astute as I once thought as you continue not to be able to grasp my point.

But thank you for the boring redundant diatribe anyway.

Because they had the least prior I presume.

Doesn’t the Airline Data Project still show that Delta has less AMT per Aircraft then AA and UAL?

I believe so.

I totally forget we (Delta) didn't go into bankruptcy. I forget Southwest started doing all their maintenance in house.

Nice try with the cover up. One of these days you guys are going to have to stop beating that bankruptcy drum.

PS United has been taking cuts well outside of bankruptcy. Both the IAM (Ramp) and IBT have allowed more outsourcing. My bet is you guys at American do the same......

I grasp the piss poor point you are trying to make. I'm just telling you it is a piss poor point.

You don’t own any work at DL and how much work do you do on your own planes vs other airlines?

Guess you forgot about your TPA hangar being shut down.

And NW farmed out the majority of their maintenance before the merger.

Stop with the selective facts.

Also how about non-delta mechanics working along side you?

Something like that would make me cringe. At AA during the BK Non Union BSO Agents were forced to train their replacements or the Company wouldn’t provide severance and fight their Unemployment Insurance claim.

Dawg is 100% cool over there though.

Smooth sailing.

It does. As I have told you, that is an amazingly stupid statistic to judge on. I'm more than happy to admit we have the lowest mechanic per tail number, AFAIK we always have.
We are within 3% of outsourcing (IIRC) and have 5-6 less people per tail.

Would you like for me to explain to you how those numbers also are a key reason why we are one of the largest MRO's in the world and the largest in North America? Or how management is actively looking to bring in work vs trying to rid themselves of over half of your "brothers"

I honestly hope the mechanics or any else doesn't have people like you doing the negations for them. If they do.... man are they screwed.

Read above. We are about 2-3% less than American the last time I looked, about 10 less than United and about 15% less than your beloved US air(pre-merger).
Should be closer this year with the amount of new engine work, airframe work and component work that came in house.

Nope. I remember Tampa and Dallas being shut down. It sucked. Do you have a point? I have moved on from it.

Yes Northwest did outsource most of its work pre-merger. Delta has brought a large part of that work back in-house. I had the pleasure of doing A320 c-checks for a little while. As legacy Northwest contracts expire Delta is bringing in even more of that work. Example, the A320 APUs came back in-house this year.

Unfortunately we do have some contractors working but that is actually getting better. Now that the seasonality of the airline's maintenance work has stabilized and they are finding things for us to do in the summer, contractor numbers are going down. Matter of fact I believe Delta is hiring mechanics and coneheads for the hangar floor right now.

How many overhauls on YOUR OWN Fleet is done in-house?

See lots of Delta planes all over the Far East even for just interior mods.

I see you conviently didn’t answer the outsourcing vs other airlines planes being worked in DL hangars.

Uh Dawg I want Parker and Company to bring in MRO OAL work. Very much so absolutely.

But the TWU and IAM don’t run the Airline. And I suspect neither do you at Delta.

You sound like a Corporate cheerleader. Is that you World Traveler?
