Afa Loses Again

Union representation is dying. People will learn what their great grandparents, grandparents and even their own parents once endured but it will be too late. History will again repeat itself. Once upon a time Union Organizers were run out of town or killed. This time Union Organizers will be terminated and bared from employment not only in their county, but also throughout the United States with all the sophisticated technology available.
You have to be kidding right?

This is not the Dark Ages, Union Leaders cannot be terminated for lawful activity on behalf of their union and thier members.

If it was not for unions, you would not have the 40 hour work week, healtcare, overtime, OSHA, the stopping of child labor and numerous other benefits.

Non-union workers would not make the wages or benefits they have if it was not for unions.

And it is proven that union workers earn more and are more productive then their non-union counterparts.

The Company could save lots of money by putting everyone on Reserve. Then everyone would be even across the boards. And it would not take anymore man-power to assign trips to everyone. Schedulers spend about 3 hours everyday calling Blockholders who are trip improving. Do it all via a phone line, call get your trip. Have everyone flying 50 hours a month. They are trying to get rid of people who aren't even making any money and giving Vacation Flyback. Duh!!!!!!!

Why would I be kidding! You’re right it is not the dark ages; it’s the blind ages.

Who said anything about termination? I agree with you, union leaders cannot be terminated for lawful activity. Union leaders and employees can lose employment when a company files a chapter 7 or simply closes down though.

BTW, you will no longer have a 40-hour a week workweek and anything over 40 hours will guarantee overtime. Those days are dwindling also. Didn’t you hear or read about the overtime being taken away…passed in the U.S. House of Representatives.

You are right “PROVEN that union workers earn moreâ€￾. What was once a 38% union population has now dwindled to an 17% union population and continuing to dwindle.

Once again you do not know what you are talking about, the Bush administration changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) does not affect workers who are unionized and have a contract.

And any worker can lose employment if a company goes chapter 7.

So try again.

It’s the blind ages. Can't happen to me when it affects someone else. Woops, what happened, how did I lose my overtime?

You need to read further into that bill and the domino affect it will have upon us.

Ktflyhome says "The Company could save lots of money by putting everyone on Reserve. Then everyone would be even across the boards. The biggest flaw I see in this is the cost of paying twice as many people 50 hours a month is not the real cost. The cost of medical, dental, taxes, passes, LTD, pension, etc. is unrealistic. It would be better from a companies point of view to cut the work force in half and make everyone work 100 hours a month, if we are going to go there. Better yet, if we are just making stuff up, it would be econimically feasable to fire everyone and start all over at minimum wage. In fact every 10 years shut the business down, then rehire everybody at the min. Duh!!!

Thanks Braveheart and I guess I am officially a Member. What would I do without USAviation to entertain me while a sit around waiting to be called to work and "earning" my guarantee. Oops forgot about the big Bucks....per diam

I believe I am accurate is saying, that right now there are more Reserves than Blockholders in Pit alone who are flying maybe 50 hours a month and getting paid 71. Duh this is cost effective, while Blockholders are flying 100 hours plus Vacation Flyback. I would love to fly 85 or more a month. I have bills to pay. Did you take a 38% paycut. Oh, maybe I am just making this all up. I forgot I hate myself.

I have done absolutely nudding.

How’s that old saying go “you can lead a blind jackass to water but ya can’t make him/her drink itâ€￾. Ain’t that how that goes?

You are 700% correct; it will NEVER affect you or any union person. Just like Ronald “the dimeâ€￾ Reagan said when he fired the air traffic controllers; mind your own business it does not affect you.

Once again Kt you are getting mad at the wrong person. Like I said before, this is not my fault. Guess what, I didn't give vacation fly back to PIT. We don't have it in PHL this month. Your anger is aimed in the wrong direction, don't be jealous because I haven't taken an extra 38% paycut. It wasn't in the cards for me, this time around. Doesn't mean I won't get hit in the future.

Braveheart, don't let facts get in your way, it my provide the truth.

The ATC workers were federal workers, the LAW prevented them from going on strike as they were FEDERAL employees, they violated the law, and they knew it, that is why Ronnie RayGun fired them.

Dont mix apples and oranges.

And I believe the world and the rest of the religions turned a blindeye to Hitler and you saw what he did because no one was there to stop him.

And it can affect me, that is why I am involved and lobbying my congressman and senators so down the road it does not affect me.

First of All, I thought this was a forum for all to express their thoughts, concerns and Yes,,,,,, maybe even feelings. I am not blaming you at all. I I could not possibly be jealous of someone I have never met. I believe you are taking everything I say a bit personally. I am not the kind of person who gets jealous, angry maybe> And I mean angry with this Company. I am sick of what this company is doing to families. I will survive but I am not sure others will. My best friend just got the BOOT and she loved this job. I would give her mine if I could. But then I am afraid she would still lose it in the end. And maybe someday you will be walking a mile in our shoes. Sorry to have offended you. Nothing personal. :)
