AAG announces changes at DCA and LGA

In theory, yes.  Instead, AA-US is cutting flights on routes to other airlines' hubs (reducing competition, as WorldTraveler pointed out) and routes on which it had the only nonstop service into DCA.  We'll have to see what routes the successful bidders announce.  My guess is MCO, ATL, ORD, BOS, HOU, TPA, DAL -- i.e., routes to cities that already have decent competition.  But, alas, it's done, so no sense complaining about it now.  :)

Not in his eyes! As I said before all good for dl and nothing for the rest! As far as those flight changes I doubt Dl will get any slots at dca id imagine wn would add atl-dca lga etc

You would think AA/US did their research on what flights to cut and maintain the most revenue generating routes.

Interesting that from DCA a second daily LAX frequency will be added (instead of SAN).
I don't know how well US did competing with DL to MSP and DTW, so I don't think it is a big deal these cities were dropped.  I don't think YUL makes sense since it is served by AC and US/AA will no longer be a part of * (although I believe AA used to do well YUL-MIA but I don't know if that is still the case, but I digress) and I can't comment on any of the other cities losing US/AA service.

Interesting that US/AA is abandoning VA from LGA.  Again I don't know how US did on these routes, I recall a friend trying to get to ROA in/around 2005 and deciding to drive instead because of the obscene fare offerred by US.

Maybe WestJet is picking up slot and will do DCA-YUL, they do codeshare with AA dont they?

Yes, WestJet codeshares a lot with AA.  I am surprised at some of the cities losing nonstop service--not surprised that they are losing the service; surprised that they ever had it.  Pensacola, Tallahassee, and Ft. Walton Beach?  Wilmington, Fayetteville, Jacksonville in N.C.?  From one of the most traffic restricted airports in the U.S.?  Please.  These all look like routes to make some member(s) of Congress happy, not to make money.

Most of those places have military bases. Would you prefer our armed forces go back to the Greyhound?  ;-)

They can connect through one of the hubs.

Not every city gets non-stop service

RJcasualty, your argument is facetious.  Just because one does not have nonstop access to DCA does not mean that the only other option is Greyhound.  There are a LOT of cities in the U.S. a hell of lot larger and with bigger military installations than Wilmington, N.C.  that don't have nonstop service to DCA.
